A Night of Cello Bows and Feminine Woes
American recording artists TyLean and Unwoman share the stage for a night of Dark Cabaret.
9 February 2011
Show begins at 20:30
£12/£10 Concession at the door
£10/£8 Concession when purchased in advance at www.tylean.com
San Francisco's Unwoman, also known as Erica Mulkey, creates darkly beautiful music, a powerful collage of vocals, cello, and electronics. The name "Unwoman" comes from Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale, and refers to the label given to sterile, feminist, or politically deviant women. www.unwoman.com
The music of ex-patriot American TyLean (vocalist, pianist, and self-proclaimed cello rapist) is often compared to Tori Amos or Kate Bush. Her stock as solo performer exploded as word spread that a TyLean show is an intimate, intense experience unlike any other. www.tylean.com
