Event Description

Welcome to Steampunk @ Gettysburg : F.A.M. Fest! That's the Gettysburg Steampunk Film, Art, and Music Festival, coming to the Gettysburg Wyndham Hotel and the Gateway Gettysburg Complex from March 29 - 31, 2013. The Gateway Gettysburg Complex is a 100-acre campus containing the Wyndham Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, 1863 Restaurant, Old Eagle Grill and Garibaldi’s Ristorante. Also, we will be showing a collection of steampunk inpired and inspiring films on the largest digital movie screens in the United States at the Gateway Theaters. Beside the diversions to be had on the Gateway campus, there is also a shuttle bus that will be running hourly to take our guests into the center of historic Gettysburg. Next year marks the 150th anniversary of the battle that saved the Union and changed the course of the American Civil War. We urge our guests to take some time to experience the town and its unique history. Keep an eye here as well our website http://www.steampunkatgettysburg.com/ for more information on the many diversions we're working to bring you as steampunk invades Gettysburg!

*********SPECIAL NOTE*************

We are currently looking for volunteers in the York / Lancaster / Harrisburg / Gettysburg Pennsylvania area! If you have particular skills (EMT / Paramedic / Security) or if you're interested in helping with Pennsylvania's first 3-day steampunk festival, drop us a line at darquelabs@yahoo.com and put "FAM Fest Volunteers" in the subject line!

Gettysburg may never be the same after the weekend of March 29 - 31! Not only are we going to rock the town with Frenchy & The Punk, Eli August & The Abandoned Buildings, The Clockwork Dolls, Montague Jacques Fromage, Veronique Chevalier, Platform One, Hayley Jane and Hellblinki, but The Copper Claw, Lazuli Belly Dance Troupe, the amazing JP Porter, Genevieve the Jingle Gypsy, A Count Named Slick-brass and the Crew of the A.S.S. Titilus, author Esther Wheelmaker and founder of SteamPunk Magazine, Margaret Killjoy will be joining us. (And believe it or not, we're still not done!) Also, just added today, Thee Bluebeard will be on hand, so now we REALLY need to hide the cannons!

Get your tickets and reserve your rooms today!

Thank you very much, sir! Another member suggested I check out Dorian's Parlor in Philly. We may start with that.

@Fedora Dog - We welcome newcomers to Steampunk with open arms! The beauty of Steampunk is that there really isn't a "wrong" thing to do. Steampunk is what we as a community and a genre make it!

My personal style is not strictly victorian, nor particularly "steam". I do what I do and I have a great time doing it. I suppose saying we are simply a collection of "marvelously weird people" would be the best way to put it. :)

If you do decide to come and spend the weekend with us, then welcome! If not, then by all means, please enjoy your foray into what I consider to be a most satisfying hobby with some of the best people you will ever meet!

I have only recently taken up interest in Steampunk and I'm looking around at various gatherings. I basically have two ways to pick them - 1) For just my wife and I to dip a toe into this world, and learn. 2) A gathering that will welcome non-Steampunk elements (I have bumped into a few that do) in order to involve friends with other interests. Which sort is this likely to be? Strictly Steampunk, or just marvelously weird people looking to have fun?

Will there be a meetup with a DJ and drinks? We would like a social meetup!
