What is Wild Wild West Con?

Wild Wild West Con is Arizona’s first steampunk convention-festival. We are breaking the barriers of the hotel based convention by placing the core of our event within Old Tucson Studios. We are set to an active story line that takes place in the fictional town of Rusted Gear in 1896 during its centennial celebration. Rusted Gear is hosting a number of events during their centennial celebration including: music concerts, dinner theater, tea party, charity fashion show, art show, mercantile pavilion, street parade, street performers, high noon dual competition, fast draw competition, gaming parlor, live action stunt shows, cabaret saloon shows, ghost tours, masquerade ball, mad scientist lab, costume contests, courtroom discussion panels, how to workshops and much more.

What is Old Tucson Studios?

Old Tucson Studios is an active working movie studio set that during its off time is transformed into a working theme park. Some of the movies shot here are Tombstone, Wild Wild West, The Three Amigos and a host of others. The studios have live action stunt shows, saloon cabaret shows, street performances, rides, a working stable with horse rides available, a full size steam train on site and much more.

Why Old Tucson Studios?

Refer to “What is Old Tucson Studios?” first. If that didn’t answer your question imagine being able to take photos against period correct buildings and props. Now add to that zero commercial buildings or structures then drop in a beautiful desert backdrop.

Does Wild Wild West Con have a host hotel?

Yes we do, Hotel Tucson City Center. Some of our night time entertainment will be held at the host hotel. See our venues page for more information about room rates and the benefits that come with staying at our host hotel.

Is Wild Wild West Con strictly wild west steampunk?

No, we love all varieties of steampunk: Purist Victorian, Neo-Victorian, Goth Victorian, Post Apocalyptic, Weird West Punk, Purist Western, Diesel Punk, Cyber Punk or whatever your style you are welcome at Wild Wild West Con. We have a zero tolerance for no tolerance.

Certainly Ms Next, and thank you for your encouraging inspiration towards your fellow citizens to press on. Though not of the body, we hope that through vicarious witness some measure of being there is vividly granted in mind and spirit. I happened upon several members of the Empire while on mission in the Wild Wild West town of Rusted Gear. We truly have the finest Citizens any Empire could ever boast. Supreme absolutely Supreme!!! I am sure that many many deguerreotypes and photographs will be making there way here to the Empire pages soon.

Yesterday, I took the High Noon stage coach out of Rusted Gear and made my way back to the City of the Firebird. Shortly I will take the carriage to the Aerodrome and lift off for the journey back to the East Coast. It has been a marvelous adventure!

It did indeed Ms Next, thank You... Arrived in Tucson just after noon on Friday. Acquired reserved accommodation at the Hotel. Excitement was in the air and all around during check in. Most of the afternoon venues took place out in Old Tucson Studios. The evening events took place in the Hotel. Old Tucson or Rusted Gear as the town has been transformed is Fantastic. It was great seeing all of us Steamers fill the town. Later back at the Hotel, The League of Steam put on a really great dinner show. Met some old friends and making new ones. Tomorrow is going to be something spectacular. More to come...

It was just before midnight on Thursday 3 March... Finally, from the command deck of the Airship, I could see the glow of the city of the rising firebird on the horizon. We have docked the massive Airship here in the city north of Tucson. This was a more challenging crossing of the continent than when I carried out the mission to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest in 09. I have been awake for days... even a Sky Marshall needs rest. I will rest here in the city of the Phoenix for the night and gather my steam for the desert crossing come the daylight.

Nothing ever goes as planned, but almost there... almost there...

We came by land ship, and after the 1800 miles across the country, it was a welcoming sight to see the host hotel, and Tucson Studios.  Also, so everyone knows, our elixers will be available at both locations at Tucson Studios, the Cryptorium, and the Apothecary shop.
