The Steampunk Empire

The Crossroads of the Aether

OK, I'm just going to say it. I'm tired of donning the same old wench look at the SoCal Ren Faire year after year. For the past couple years, I've done the tribal belly dance thing instead (there is Traders Market after all...) But now I have this great Victorian dress that just doesn't get enough use. So I don't care what the queen might think, I'll be wearing it on opening weekend.

I was just wondering if there are any other RenFairers here (yes, I'm pretty sure "RenFairers" is a word) who are planning to go rogue, too ... <insert mischievous grin>

We have a tradition of invading the Texas RenFest on Pirate Weekend.  I believe it has been going on for at least 2 years.

I think that our SP garb does less to "taint" the atmosphere than the civilian clothing.

It is a pity that the staff there has not welcomed us the way Dickens on the Strand has.

If I were in the LA area, I would join you.

Yay! I'm going next weekend. Don't know if I'll go steampunk though.

Steampunked Star Trek:

I legitimately thought he was someone from Firefly before I read the description. Firefly=Star Trek+Steampunk

Geez, I  did not get the Star Trek thing, either. I am a Treky from well, the first  Star Trek, I have even met George Takie and William Shatner.

First thought of this was more a Hitler, neo-noxie thing, but certainly not a Star Trek. The last Star Trek movie and the whole dark  Romulin look does not count, it was a bad leap into what is not Star Trek.

Love it :)

Awesome news! This year, the KCRF will be having an official steampunk weekend! It's on September 22nd and 23rd, it's dubbed the Threads of Time weekend, and while steampunk is the last description listed, it's a start.

There will also be a Dr. Who wedding that Saturday and there's apparently a steampunk costume contest.

Yes, you're right! I saw that on the KCRF facebook page. I'll be attending it for sure.

Any interest in invading the Carver Ren Faire that is up-coming in southeast Massachusetts?

Last year my best friend went sp to the carver faire, she got lots of compliments. I'd go again this year if I hadn't moved. :}

I am at this time planing on going to the MD RenFest in Steampunk Garb. I don't know what date I'll be going yet tho.

Has anyone set day for the steampunks this year?

The Bristol Fair in southern Wisconsin had a whole steampunk weekend (July 21/22) it was grand!
