The Steampunk Empire

The Crossroads of the Aether

Brute Force Studios had a one-of-a-kind eyepiece stolen on Saturday afternoon at DragonCon. The following is cut and pasted from his own posting:

Some of you may have heard, I had a piece stolen from me at Dragon Con. Not just some ordinary piece but a one of a kind Monacle that was to be in featured in a Steampunk Exhibit at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford this October.

I will pay $200.00 for it's safe return on a "no questions asked" basis.
I will pay $500.00 if it leads to the arrest of the one who stole it.

Remember, it is a one of a kind piece. There will never be another. If you see someone wearing it they are definitely connected to the theft and a felony.

I will also produce a custom piece for anyone who gets the thief arrested. Have you been looking at one of those arms thinking $1499.00 is beyond your reach? You Get me this person and I'll make one just for you.

Sincerely,
Thomas Willeford

If you have any pics from DragonCon 2009, or if you find yourself scouring through pics of DragonCon 2009, and you see this piece, please contact Thomas at www.bruteforceleather.com

If I might ask, have there been any updates to this as yet and is there by chance a color photograph of the item?
I have heard nothing yet.
i haven't heard anything from Thomas to indicate that it has been returned. and i will look to see if i have a colour photo of the item. he brought it to an event earlier in the year.
its brass and leather. Color is pretty obvious
not necessarily, as leather comes in many colours. and realistically speaking, with the photo above being sepia-toned, the colours aren't glaringly apparent when you think about it.
Update on the Theft.
I'm afraid there is not much to tell so far. Some people have asked if there are any leads and such but regrettably there has been no word. I do still truly want to thank you all for you concern. I managed to make a new piece as a replacement and get it to the museum on time for opening. The Oxford Steampunk Exhibit has been incredibly successful and I hope all of you get a chance to see it.
