The Steampunk Empire

The Crossroads of the Aether

Hi! I live near Lansing, Michigan. I notice that Detroit has a big Steam scene. And also that Western MI has a Steam club. ...Lansing, hello?

If there's no Lansing interest, are there people from here who drive either way?

Actually, Lansing is a natural! ...Home of the automobile, after all. And we have a nice big River with a Riverwalk along it. ...I bet there are old factories or even a currently-operating Power Plant that we could get a tour of. There might even be a Period Space hidden away somewhere that we could get access to.

And, of course, we have one of the world's largest universities. Hmmm, there must be some diverse creativity here even if standing in lines for nightclubs, stadium events and puking seems to be the approved mono-culture of the last decade. Resist sheepness!

Ah, there's also a worldclass Folk Music emporium in Elderly Instruments and its many spin-off music scenes.

Jackson has the Midwest's biggest Civil War re-enactment. That's where I saw my first Steam people!

Personally, I suggest a bit of a *bicycle* emphasis. There's already a local Tweed Ride and Gatsby Ride.

Just a notion!

Steampunk's rulelessness must give us an opportunity for SOMETHING besides DRIVING BORING CARS east or west!
