The Crossroads of the Aether
I do not know about all of the rest of you lovely ladies and handsome gents out there, but I think we need a Steampunk camp! Anything to escape the sultry heat of the Texas summer. I can picture it now parasols, goggles, fans, and ice cold lemonade. Yes we need to do this!
If you build it, they will come.
Permalink Reply by G.A. Jack Hammerquist on August 7, 2012 at 5:30pm My dear you have been reading my mind, however I wish to do it a bit on a grander scale. I wish to build an entire steampunk city maybe not as steampunk as some would want but very Victorian. Complete with houses for those who work and live there. A few Hotels, lots of rooms to let, Bed and Breakfasts, Plus some manors which could be rented and would allow those who stay to live as if they are lords and ladies. Maybe some that appear old and run down, with some ghost in residence. And maybe some that have secret labs and passages. Couple all that with some Cabaret's, old fashion pubs, taverns and what-not's, Ice cream parlors, and other eating establishments. travel in horse drawn buggies, or in one of the steam powered trollies. Then there is the Industrial section of town where real mechanist/artisans build things with the tools of the 1800's, and all tools powered with a real steam power planet. Then there is the rail station and the service bays for the train. Yes a real steam powered train which would travel all the way around the mountain to the wild western city which my cousin wishes to build...
Basically everything a typical Victorian city would have plus a healthy dose of steampunk goodness. And we can have it all for a measly 20 million or so.
Is it $20 million in today's currency, or is there some way we can buy yesterday's treasures at tomorrow's prices? or vice versa? I get so mixed up when I time travel.

Permalink Reply by Dr. Nicholas Teal on August 8, 2012 at 2:22pm That sounds wondrous Master Jack! Two places come to mind in my backyard for fantasy fodder. One is the Victorian Spiritist camp at Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. The other is Edaville Railroad in Carver Mass. -The latter is infinitely more practical, and has been looking for a new identity for the past twenty years.

I have a sudden desire to steampunk a Girl Scout uniform. Steampunk tents, Steampunk canteens, Steampunk backpacks.
Think of the delicious badges a Steam Scout might wear on the sash!
What fun!
