The Crossroads of the Aether
Ok its tirade time.
Dose everyone have to be an airship captain, come on people. Its like when little kids play cowboys and Indians but all the kids pretend to be the sheriff. The world of steampunk is filled with rolls of colorful adventure. Why for Gods sake why dose ninety percent of the people creating a persona have to be an airship captain!
Ok, now that half of you hate me I get the other half too.
Women airship captains.
Yes I know that history tells us their have been women captains/ pirates ect. You can find a list of them on wikipedia. You, can, find, a, list, of ,them! Meaning, that their was so few of them that, you can list them.
You would never know it around this place, were you cant hurl a dead cat without hitting a dozen airship captains in a skirt!
Yes, I know that this is fiction/fantasy but make it real people. Its also trendy to put women in roles that has them stronger then men. Despite the unreality of women action rolls the popularity of Angelina Jolie has nothing to do with her kicking butt. It has to do with her butt!
Please, please, people lets keep it real. Use some of that imagination and come up with personas that haven’t been done to death by hundreds of others before you. Ladies, you are women not men if you really have a new take on a women stepping into a males role I would love to see it. BUT we cant all be the sheriff can we. We need all the roles that women fill in the real world too. It makes the world of steampunk as full and colorful as the real world.
Now, as if I haven’t pissed off everyone in the Empire yet.
Can I tell you how tired I am about anything to do with vampires and werewolves,,,
WHY do you hate to agree with me?
Regarding crotchless unmentionables-- if done correctly, they will not oinch, as the are also butt-less. I've had several original pairs over years of collecting, none of which I wore, just used as models. Essentially, two legs joined to the waist at the hip! Absolutely necessary for the ladies in hoopskirts-- after hiking hoop, skirts, under skirts, and petticoats, you physically couldn't drop your linen!
I have NO idea how mine pinched - but they got mangled and bunched about in some strange manor and did when I sat down!!!
People can create whatever persona they want, period, no exceptions.
Also I need people to persona airship captains, I hire them to do all my dirty work I daresay. Do you think I would lower my station enough to captain an airship? The answer is no. So all of you get back to the wheel, I'm having tea with the chancellor of Antarctica.
A lady does not need fight, fly, work, or lift a dainty finger. This is true. But it is her absolute right to make her own way in the world and do absolutely anything she wants.
And to do it better than men of course, I daresay.
Earl Grey, I play a mermaid better than a man. ahh hahah ahhh hahaha =D
And you play a more beautiful mermaid than most women could. ;)
I still think ( despite the discussion mutating in other directions ) that we are going 'round in circles - a pleasant enough occupation - regarding Vile Clown's original propositions .
What I said earlier was " Surely enough is enough '' but if others want to continue with sterile reviews of positions already well articulated they are obviously at liberty to do so .
Add a pair of goggles, call yourself Captain Zack and you're Steampunk! haha
Please take into consideration, as this discussion has illustrated, to each his own. Not everyone discovers a thread immediately on its inception, and people are bound to discover it at varying times, perhaps even months later. They are entitled to state their view. (especially if it challenges or supports a dearly held individual idea or personal belief). Meanwhile, for those who have heard enough, there is a little 'unfollow' button somewhere so you will not be troubled by further dead-horse beating.
I rather enjoy hearing the thoughts of folks I might not otherwise ever meet. Cheers!
