The Crossroads of the Aether

I am just curious as to what everyone does for fun. Since I have not had fun in about 2 decades, being a really strict, by the books nerd type back then (My jobs put a lot of stress on me and I had a lot of lives on the line if I or anyone on my team screwed up. The last thing the world needed was another Chernobyl) So what do you do for fun? I am new to this and am trying to fit in and might do the Easter parade with the Toronto Steampunk Society (I actually do not support or celebrate any holidays, period but I have a reason for that which is another story) Now we cant wear steampunk theme but my girly alice of wonderland blue dress suits the bill if I have the guts to even poke me nose outside that is. I have done some naughty things in my years like a rocket propelled grenade launcher out of a pvc pipe.. Well ok it fired unarmed rockets but still I was bad lol. To me that was fun. But I never ever harmed or threatened to harm another person. It was just for fun and in the middle of nowhere. I also did some experimental designs that blew up on the pad or lost parts in the air. Those really put on quite the "Uncontrolled freaky flying thing" show lol Anyhue I am just bored and was wondering what real fun is.. I kinda forgot. Sometimes work sucks the fun ou t of life. Man I am glad I dont do that job anymore. When life gets too serious its time for a break.

Permalink Reply by Shahbanoo Pantea on April 18, 2012 at 9:44pm You know, it occurred to me that I read this and never replied. I think it's because I do a lot of stuff, and I can't remember if I do it for fun, or if I do it just simply to do something.
But I do enjoy riding, especially in my victorian habit. I also love re-enactment so long as I the costume-nazis don't harass me. I enjoy studying history as well, both for the novel I've been working on (which I am also doing for fun), and simply because I just enjoy learning about the insanity of times past. I don't like sewing itself, but I love having the outfits and complete creative control over the outcome of my garment, so I do that frequently. I like to be in table-top RPGs with people who have a good sense of humor, and I love when we have the time and resources to do extravagant LARP-ing. I also spend spare time on showmanship arts, like dance and music. I can sing in four different languages, I've accumulated quite a collection of instruments, and I can play all of them well, the exception being the ney that I have. That one I've never quite gotten the hang of. As for the dance, it's mainly Persian classical, kathak (Lucknow and Jaipur gharanas), flamenco, raghse arabi, and bharatnatyam.
And of course, I do steampunk for fun. It makes me all warm inside, like a good cup of tea.
Now, with that said, I really do too much, and I'm POSITIVE I've forgotten something, if not many things.
Permalink Reply by Shahbanoo Pantea on April 19, 2012 at 8:00pm I find that when I'm left idle, I cause mischief and mayhem of the most unfortunate sort, so I have to occupy my time. For, as the Victorians said, "idle hands are the devil's plaything".
