From November 15th until 11PM on November 30th, we are auctioning off a basket of AMAZING Steampunk goodies- to help add some money to the Steampunk Unity Float. We have raised the minimum ChipIn goal of $700 which will all go towards the float itself. The money we raise during this auction will be used to help pay for costumes and embellishments for the merpeople the crew and the mechanic walkers. If there is still money left after that we will use it to help subsidize the registration fees for those in the aforementioned groups and the members of Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band who will be marching with our float on June 23, 2012 in the Coney Island Mermaid Parade.
We presently have:
A signed CD from the Clockwork Dolls = $12 value
A Steampunk Wind-up Toy Monkey (one of a kind) from Steampun K. MacIntyre (also known as the man in the Pith Helmet and the jaunty light-up belt buckle) = $25
A CD from Eli August and crew = $12 value
A hair bow and mini hat from HATTITUDE - Dorothy Winterman Designs - $18 value
the COMPLETE Strangely Beautiful book set signed by the author- Leanna Renee Hieber (3 book set) =$45
Medals from Thee Gartisan Works = $36 value
2 FREE TICKETS (without the drink ticket) TO DORIAN'S PARLOR- ANY (excluding special events) = $40 value
$15 credit for Celtic Rose Art on etsy = $15 value
Anonymous Donor - Desktop Compass / Sundial in a Leather Case = $35 value
FOR A TOTAL BASKET VALUE OF (drum roll, please) = $238

Knowledge that you have helped contribute to a world-wide Steampunk event = PRICELESS

NOTE: THERE WILL BE A SURPRISE GIFT OF AWESOMENESS DONATED BY THE AMAZING KATHRYN PATERWIC OF REDFIELD DESIGNS!!!!!

JUST ADDED:
1 pair of goggles- valued at $49

1 pair of rose-coloured glasses - valued at $12

Here's the concept: a STEAMPUNKED version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea created by ALL OF US. It does not matter what state you hail from or your SP philosophy, if you're a "maker" or a dabbler or part of a League, Airship or other organization. Here is a chance to show the WORLD (because literally all eyes are on Brooklyn for the Mermaid Parade) STEAMPUNK UNITY.

The idea is an airship based on the Natilus with a Capt. Nemo, crew, mechanics and ocean dwellers (read mer-people). I would LOVE IT to be a flying blimp with handlers and a squidee atop. But- if not- can we build a float that may be pulled by STEAMPUNKED Bikes being driven by dapper men and women in full Victorian garb? This is an idea in the making. Even if you want to be a merperson the colors would be golds and browns and greens and turquoise. Corsets maybe or maybe not.
HERE'S THE RUB: PLEASE READ THE BELOW CAREFULLY!!!!!!!
TO DO THIS WE NEED TO RAISE MONEY. I can set up a paypal link for people to contribute to. I am a licensed attorney and would NEVER EVER F*** WITH ANYONE'S HARD EARNED CASH IN ANY WAY!!!! I CAN PROVIDE REFERENCES IF NEEDED AND I HOPE (and believe) THERE ARE THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY WHO WILL VOUCH FOR ME.

As for costumes- once we have all decided on a "look" to maintain uniformity we would price things and costume pieces. EACH PERSON IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BUYING THE PIECES OF THEIR COSTUMES!!! Meaning if we all decide on 2 underskirts, a corset, fishnet arm stockings, headpieces and goggles for all merMAIDS (male or female) then those wishing to wear this outfit must purchase the pieces and those who agree to sew and costume design will put the outfit together. You would be completely FREE to wear your own badges, symbols, pins, patches that ID you from a specific area, group, airship, Empire, etc. on the basic generic outfit.

The "costumed" people will be:

Capt. Nemo (male or female)
5 pirates "crew members" are fine and should NOT be exactly alike
3-5 "legitimate" crew- they MUST be uniform
3 mechanics (think one-piece flight mechanic looking uniforms with tool belts)
Mer-people (unlimited)
Regular Steampunks (this does not mean ONLY VICTORIAN/EUROPEAN CLOTHING). I may just wear my African Warrior Princess Outfit since it is SP.
If we do the traditional float with the bikes - we need bike riders in outfits
If we do a blimp (my personal preference) we need blimp handlers.
Now...DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO MAKE/STITCH A BLIMPY-THINGY?

I will begin the process of contribution collection NOW. The making process will begin JANUARY 1, 2012. We need people willing to travel to my home and to the homes of others who are SERIOUS ABOUT DOING THIS. We may also need a "space" starting in March 2012 to put things together, do fittings of costumes and to store our stuff. If anyone can "DONATE" that- it would be AWESOME.

So...Now I bid you adieu. The paypal site is below. If by December 31, 2011 at least 50 people have not signed up and we have not raised at LEAST $700 I do not see this thing going up. Let's keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.

Cheers,

Dorothy
