Posted the new ASPC event calling for a Steampunk Presence at
One Billion Rising at San Antonio's Hemisfair Park

STRIKE! DANCE! RISE!
———————
Violence against women has existed for centuries. While stereotypes and prevailing cultural themes might encourage these continuing acts worldwide, One Billion Rising presents the validity of Women’s voice as a recognizable force to change these notions. Join us at the Alamo and make a stand to demonstrate strength as we make a stand for women across the globe.

We are the mothers, sisters, and daughters of a generation fighting for a better future. We are their husbands, friends, family, and sons making a stand of encouragement.

Men, Women, Steampunk, Cosplayers, Anyone and Everyone is welcome to attend. Let’s all make a stand and show that violence against women will not be tolerated.

I just discovered ya'll via Kat Powell's It Get's Better video.  What a great idea.  Thanks for having the group and for all the work you're doing.

I've managed to move all the discussion posts from Facebook on to the Steampunk Empire because the Facebook Discussion Board App is being removed from everyone's pages.

I updated the 'It Gets Better' video section to include Mina Mori's video. I would love it if anyone would follow their example and send in their own videos as well.
Art contest themes are listed in the pages and the art for the most recent contest has been updated.

We have a few things listed on Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/SteamPoweredCause

We have monthly art contests. Currently we have ongoing LGBTQ support and awareness for this month's theme.

In San Antonio we have set up a Food Drive for the San Antonio Food Bank in November (the 10th). We'll hopefully be doing that Food Drive all month, but we are primarily doing it at the Alamo Drafthouse Steampunk Night I help run with SANVA.

We have the ongoing 'Steampunk It Gets Better' videos. You can view an example of it under the 'Pages' tab.
In addition to the Breast Cancer Awareness Photoshoots and crafting that people have been doing for us.

We are in the process, in San Antonio, to set up an event for the Steampunk Christmas Charity event here in San Antonio. Most likely it will be a Toy Drive:

Part of the reason for the group and such is to try to get the whole of the community involved. However, that means I can't be the only one setting things up. I've been promoting ASPC at various TX cons and have gotten a lot of great support and response from everyone I've encountered- so I hope more people wil care to get involved in these causes.

So...are we going to do something?  An activity for charity?  Holidays are fast approaching!

Sounds like fun for a good cause!
