Comment by Shadarko on February 13, 2012 at 2:39pm Welcome aboard Raphi! I hope you have found yourself safe and well on your arrival from Pugid Sound. There are indeed several of us who are also part of "out from behind the curtain" here as well. If you are on the Facebook thing, there is also the Bay Aarea Steampunk Federation (http://www.facebook.com/groups/steamfederation/) there is also the event site www.sfsteampunk.com for local events and happening.
Agian, welcome to San Francisco,
Aaron
Comment by EngineRmRaphi on February 13, 2012 at 2:27pm Salutations, ladies, gentlemen, and assorted (ah, sordid?) other subjects of the Bay area's grand and beloved Emperor Norton.
I am a newly arrived subject from the northern protectorate of Puget Sound. I do so look forward to becoming acquainted with others here with similar fancies. Eg: brass, gears, steam engines, and Eugene V. Debs for President, 1912.
Oh, and one other thing, if I may be indulged in a spot of indelicacy. The Bay area, particulary SF, is known for being friendly to us who are what the Victorians termed "inverts." In the territory of Washington, we had a fine group titled "Out From Behind the Curtain." As identifiable by our rainbow colored gear buttons. Introductions to such locals appreciated.
Comment by Shadarko on February 5, 2012 at 9:33pm The site with info for the Clockwork Alchemy con. is up: http://www.clockworkalchemy.com/
Comment by Lorelei Throckmorton on January 30, 2012 at 8:38am Fanime/ClockworkAlchemy registration fee is $50 now, will go up to $55 starting Feb. 1.
Until Feb 1., the fee for the whole long weekend is only $10 more than a day-pass will be, so go for it. And remember, steampunkers should use the code CA2012. I think this will enable you to pick up your badge at CA, rather than going to downtown San Jose and Fanime first.
Comment by Shadarko on January 27, 2012 at 7:07pm Over on the FB page for the Bay Area Steampunk Federation, they're asking if any of the SF Steampunks would like one of their weekly gathering to happen in San Francisco. If anyone who doesn't have FB and like me to send over ideas of where to have a gathering if if they'd be interested, I can shoot them over a message.
Comment by Vernon Putman on January 13, 2012 at 4:51pm The official Clockwork Alchemy website will go live Soon[tm].
Comment by Lorelei Throckmorton on January 8, 2012 at 3:01pm I'm expecting there to be a link to an actual website (instead of to the fb page) within the next few days. Once that site is up, prospective speakers/panelists will have someone to contact. Also, I expect they will have a vendor application. For now the fb page is your best source of info. If you can wait a day or two, it's best to register through the CA site. If you can't wait, and you are going more for CA than for the fanime side, use that CA2012 promo code.
Comment by Shadarko on January 7, 2012 at 8:55pm It looks like the info on the FB page is the same information that's on fanime's website. Since it's just announced the specific information probably isn't up yet. But it looks like if you go to the www.fanime.com site you'll get the info on Clockwork.
Comment by Rev. Mik McAllister on January 7, 2012 at 8:07pm Could someone please post the Clockwork Alchemy information elsewhere? The page redirects to Fakebook.
Comment by Lorelei Throckmorton on January 7, 2012 at 6:10pm Big news! Thanks to Fanime's organizers, the Bay Area will have a con this spring - Clockwork Alchemy on Memorial Day's 4-day weekend in San Jose. Nova Albion's organizers had other demands on them, so various SP folk brainstormed, contacted different venues, and found a great solution. Thanks to Fanime's organizers, when you register for Clockwork Alchemy, you will also be registering for Fanime. Two cons for the price of one! Be sure to check out www.fanime.com/clockworkalchemy for info, schedules and more. When you decide to register, go to www.fanime.com. If steampunk is your primary interest, please use the promo code CA2012.
