Comment by Marah ~Ocean Maiden~ Perez on July 29, 2012 at 6:12pm Greetings to everyone! :) I'm a jewelry artist, seeing that jewelry creation is an ART, and I am proud to be such as well :) I usually work with stones such as turquoise as well as metal but currently getting my patience ready for some seed bead work. Can't wait to see what's in store for this group!

Comment by Bianca Rose Byrnes on January 29, 2012 at 8:40pm Just want to introduce myself. I have been doing jewelry and beading for many years and thought to focus my hobbies towards steampunk for awhile. Looking forward to creating with you all as inspiration. Happy Projects to all!
Comment by Lorelei Throckmorton on January 8, 2012 at 3:18pm Scanning sounds good, and I think you're right about Photoshop. Even if you used the Contrast functions, you'd still end up doing plenty of hand mark-ups. I haven't done anything like this, so can't tell you any better techniques.
Comment by Professor Argon Bats on January 8, 2012 at 3:04pm I meant marking off the print using parchment paper or clear plastic, re-reading I see my explanation made little sense.
Comment by Professor Argon Bats on January 8, 2012 at 3:02pm I was thinking of scanning it, printing that, then marking the patterns off the print by hand (faster than Photoshop I'd guess), then rescan that so I can print it as many times as needed (including in mirror image) onto tissue paper (if one can print on tissue!). I would baste the tissue pattern to the areas to bead, then carefully tear off. I'll welcome any suggestions on the best technique to transfer/copy a pattern from existing beading though, I am by no means expert!
Comment by Lorelei Throckmorton on January 8, 2012 at 2:46pm Fantastic beadwork! I think your idea of duplicating a simpler version of same elsewhere in the garment would look wonderful. It would be interesting to take a rubbing (onto tissue paper?) to help identify the main lines, distances, etc. I could see this as a cutwork design as well, with the main curves in negative space.
