The Borealis Exploration Society will be touring the USS Anchorage on Friday, May 3. Please join us, in Steampunk garb or not.
Around 5:20pm, we'll meet at the Mall at Sears, 600 E Northern Lights Blvd, right in front of Steamdot Coffee, outside, to catch the shuttle to the port. Wear sensible shoes and pants. Refrain from schlepping large packs or props. It's probably not a good idea to try and board with your uber cool nerf mod either. The Navy wouldn't appreciate such handy work! Everyone will be required to go through a metal detector and those 18+ must show government issued photo ID. The tour is free, but not handicap accessible.
We'll head somewhere to eat afterwards. Both Applebees and TGI Friday's are open until midnight. Anyone have a preference?
My aether cell contrivance # is 414-1053, should anyone wish to converse, transmit exposition, or otherwise broadcast your geographical position.

Greetings to all in the great state of Alaska! Our clan will be headed down to Anchorage on Saturday for the Running of the Reindeer. We'll be in full Steampunk regalia and looking forward to seeing many friendly faces.

Yay! Tomorrow is our November activity, The Nutcracker ballet. Meet us near the Will Call desk at about 12:30pm, before the show. Afterwards, we'll meet again near the Will Call desk to have a mini photo shoot. Then we'll head over to Applebees at 4331 Credit Union Dr for a light repast. We'll go Dutch, so everyone can order as much or as little as they wish. If you're attending, please let me know so I can pm you my phone number in case you can't find us. Here is address of the venue... Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, 621 6th Avenue - Anchorage

Even if you aren't planning to attend the ballet, you're welcome to meet us at the Atwood Center for a photo shoot, and/or Applebees for food afterwards. The performance begins at 1pm and runs about 2 hours, so we'll be at the restaurant around 3pm. Let me know if you're planning to meet up with us at some point. We've got new phone numbers....so I'll pm you.

Hooray! We've finally pinned down the time and day for the Nutcracker. We'll be going on Sunday, November 25, to the 1pm performance. Afterwards, we'd like to take some photos of the group then head to Applebees for a light repast. I've purchased tickets in the balcony at 306L / JJ - 673 and 674. You're welcome to buy your tickets to sit with us, or anywhere you prefer in the theater. Please let me know if you'll be attending so I can keep you updated on changes.

Saturday afternoon is filling up fast. The operator said the Sunday 5:30 show is the least full, and the other shows are not as full at Sat2pm. Let me know which performance you prefer. We'll hammer that detail out and let you know which performance in the next day or so. There was some discussion about group rates. The savings is $2/per ticket and it doesn't apply to the expensive seats. Groups count as 12 or more, and we're looking at the least expensive seats. If you want better seating, I think you can still get in on the group sale, but you won't be sitting with the group.

Greetings fellow Steampunk Alaskans! We'll be going to the Nutcracker for our meet up in November. I'm thinking we could meet for a meal and mini photo shoot before heading over to the concert hall. When we decide on a performance day and time, we can each buy our own tickets. It'll be easier to get whatever seats you can, which means we won't end up sitting together for the show. Performances are Friday, November 23 at 7:30pm, Sat, Nov 24 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm, and Sun, Nov 25 at 1:00pm and 5:00pm. Tickets start at $25 and go up to $65. You can purchase them here... (STAY TUNED as we decide which showing we'll attend BEFORE you buy tickets.) http://alaskapac.centertix.net/eventperformances.asp?evt=947

Is anyone interested in a hat redoux workshop? I'll be hosting one for my daughter's Lolita club in a month or so. We'll be making bonnets out of straw hats, and I'll have a couple of my hats on display. We'll also talk about embellishing ready made hats and sourcing costumes. P.S...invite your friends!
