I attended Adventurecon in Knoxville on Oct. 13 and 14. This was a totally new experience for me so every impression was significant! My first impression was how cordial everyone was. There was a definite sense of comradship among all con-goers. I was dressed in my Phineas duds and I received many compliments although since this was a SiFi convention everyone wanted to know what "character" is was appearing as. One young fellow said "Awsome" when I told him I was Steampunk and my name was Phineas W. Sprockett, cyclist. Of course the most used compliment was, "You look so dapper", which is good---I think.
Only one young lady, a jewelry vendor, recognized the Steampunk ethos although she was selling some Steampunk items. I didn't see anyone else dressed in the neo-Vic style so among the many Star Wars, Space fantasy characters and Indiana Joneses, I certainly stood out.
I attended the Costume contest and a Q. and A. session by an actor who appears on the Walking Dead series. Both sessions were quiet entertaining.
Is Chattanooga hosting any cons in the near future? I would be interested in attending and if any of you plan to be there, in meeting you.
With Best Wishes, Phineas W. Sprockett
Comment by Phineas Wotan Sprockett, O.C.C. on October 9, 2012 at 6:26am Greetings to all,
I consider myself a rank novice. I live in Knoxville and hope to meet you eventually. Please have a look at my profile. I would appreciate your correspondence and invaluable assistance as I become more comfortable in the Empire. Is anyone attending Adventurecon in Knoxville on October 13 and 14th.
I will be there the morning of the 13th and the evening of the same. I will be wearing a black derby and carrying a walking stick with a silver band and an inconspicuous deer antler handle.
I hope to meet fellow Empire members there.
Faithfully, Phineas Wotan Sprockett, o.c.c.

Comment by Georg, Baron von Mannteuffel on December 7, 2011 at 8:53pm Chattacon is one of the cons that I am off on sebatical. I am on staff of Liberty Con, which is another Chattanooga Convention.
Comment by Captain Lyerly on December 6, 2011 at 7:18pm Excellent! Are you helping out at the Con? I was there in 2010 for just a short while (illness intervened), but there was a Steampunk Makers Panel that was really great. Ex Libris, I believe, and Captain Billbill were there, among others, and the Professor X steamchair was exhibited. Most impressive.
Cheers!

Comment by Captain Lyerly on November 1, 2011 at 6:09am Well, we are here, finally and for good. Sold the Maryland house (ouch) and starting to get settled.
Does anyone have a preference for a meet-up location?
Cheers!
Chas.
