Steampunk Convention in Indy!!! We have to do this.

This has been discussed before but I think it is an idea that should be discussed again. Indy is the perfect area for a convention. Middle of the state, middle of the country, lots of hotels and conference facilities. I think we, as a group, should pursue this and plan a convention for 2013.

I am a born planner. I love a good spreadsheet and I LOVE planning events, however, I do not live in Indy. I would be happy to help whenever and wherever I can but I would probably not be the best point person due to location.

Ideas, suggestions?

I emailed the chair of the Fishers Ren Faire to see what the 2013 date for the Faire is, so we would have some idea of the events that we would need to work around. There's is the first weekend in October and will be expanding to 2 weekends in October in 2013. They also offered any assistance if we need it.

I have the next 3 months off work so I am going to start emailing people about events they have planned and asking questions. I am also going to start asking people from this group about meeting and working on getting this going.

I guess the very first thing we need to figure out is who will we pay for this? Once that is decided we can start looking at dates and locations.

Ideas?

I am part of the Fishers Ren Faire cast and would definitely be willing to help out. I have experience in event planning and such but mostly related to nonprofits. I also live in Indy. Let me know how I can help out!

Don't know quite how much help I can offer, but I'd at least be willing to organise a group of GMs (provided I can find some) to run some Space 1889 tables.

I have friends and my sisters that are right now doing the steam world expo. I could see if they could help give some pointers on how to do everything. I would love to help in anyway that I can. I might have few talents that might help if you want them! I was wondering if there was enough people to help out if having group meetings would help make the planning easier? Just an idea :)

I think having a group meeting would be great. I have to work until 5 in Lafayette(for 2 more weeks), thats about an hour or so north. I can meet any eveing around 6:30/7 during the week and just about any weekend this month. There are a couple days I have plans.

Everyone throw some dates and times out and lets see what we can plan.

Weekends will work best for me right now. Sundays are my open days but Saturdays evenings work for me also. I can do week night if need to, but I have to work around hubby's work hours and sadly they very a lot during the week!

This weekend June 2-3 I am free day, all day. June 9th, all day, June 17th free in the morning/afternoon. June 23-24 and 30th, all day. During the week, I have nothing planned, pretty much all month long.
