Thanks to all who made it out to join us for a little casual fine dining amongst friends. There was an older gentleman outside who askedAmanda what was going on. When she told him we were the Corn Island Steampunk Society, he recognized us and said he remembered us from the Steampunk display at the Bon Air Library earlier this year. O.O

It doesn't get any better than that...

(Next meet will be our April Fools meet on Sunday, April 19th aka the Sunday after Thunder Over Louisville)

I don't really know how much it costs to run the ship, but the lady in charge said at port or on the river it wouldn't matter much either way.

Last year, I asked about a private cruise for the Corn Island Steampunk Society ONLY and they said it would run around $2300.  Ouch!!!

The lady suggested selling tickets at $50/person but still.....OUCH!!!

Ok, sadly the Belle Scaryoke Cruise will NOT be going on.

I spoke with them this morning and was told it was decided over the weekend that with all their efforts put into the Belle's Birthday Celebration, they used up all of their resources and did not get advertisements out soon enough to draw enough interest in the cruise. As of Sunday, only 4 tickets had been purchased in advance which I informed them those 4 tickets were most likely members of the Society.
The Corn Island Steampunk Society was mentioned several times during the decision making as they knew we would be disappointed, but even with bringing in the 30 or so ticket sales we'd bring in, it wouldn't be enough to offset the cost of running the electricity, the DJ's and all other expenses involved. I even suggested today that they still hold the event dockside aboard the Belle but it wouldn't save all that much to make a difference whether they left port or not.
The event is also cancelled for next year as the FFA convention is coming to Louisville and I was told they generally book up every cruise with that but to look for another possible attempt at a Scaryoke Cruise (hopefully) in 2016.

Again, I apologize and they were very apologetic as well. It just wasn't in the cards for us this year.
