Comment by Lady Sophronia Bloodthorne-Clark on April 7, 2013 at 1:21pm I've been meaning to mention that I recognized the person in the thread avatar as the late Jack Wild. His persona as The Artful Dodger is indeed perfect as a symbol of Gilded Guttersnipes everywhere.

Comment by Phineas Wotan Sprockett, O.C.C. on March 18, 2013 at 8:12am Sir Harry,
Thank you, sir, for the information regarding the Stand-Fall collar types. As a new collector of detachable collars, I actually have in my possession this very type of collar! Detachable but vitually identical to the attached collars typically found on shirts. I am glad that I can put a name to them.
Comment by Colonel Sir Harry Flashman VC on March 13, 2013 at 12:44pm Mr. Sprocket, the detachable "Up-and-Down" is just another name for the run of the mill "Stand-Fall" collar found on most shirts that are attached.

My sewing skills are in their infancy! I have just plucked up enough courage to attempt my first project from a pattern: a waistcoat. Needless to say, I spend a lot of time looking at tutorials online.
Like you I love wearing these collars. With the right waistcoat, watchchain and hat, a detachable collar actually "makes" the look.
