Comment by Major Tam (A. Scot) on May 17, 2013 at 2:45pm I've heard similar things, SD, although we did interact with quite a few folks there last year. :-)
And yeah, they do offer a FEW complimentary tix when you book thwe wedding. We might even look into trying to get discounts for buying a certain number of extra tix, too, to help out a few extra friends who will already be spending $$$ to travel for the wedding.
thanks for the well-wishes, SD.... We hope it'll come out okay, lol. Been talking about doing this for about 2 years already! :-P
Hello, my fellow Steampunkers! :-)
Got a question for you all:
Would anyone be willing to go to the KC Ren Fest this year if you know there was a Doctor Who wedding (with steampunk flair) there, and that with all the S.P.ers showing up (even if they're not interested in seeing the wedding) might encourage the owner of the Ren Fest to incorporate a S.P. weekend there?
We want to accomplish two things with our wedding there this year:
1)(Obviously, to have a fun Doctor Who/Steampunk wedding)
And 2) to work with a few other employees at the Ren Fest in trying to convince the owner to have S.P. weekends there from this year on, and with that, to hopefully help bring more S.P. conventions, etc HERE to Kansas City, etc.
So FEW people know about Steampunk, and yet soooooo many of them IMMEDIATELY fall in LOVE with it as soon as they know what it's all about! If enough people show up (whether for the wedding, or just for fun) in S.P. attire and all, it might help change the owner's mind about having the S.P. weekends, etc!!!
Got a question regarding a wedding etiquette situation, and I want everyone's opinion, please.... (Thanks!!!)...
Say someone wants to have a small wedding inside of a public event, but just can't afford to pay for the entrance fee of every one of their guests; only a select few. The price per person will be approximately $20.
Would it be rude to invite them, but expect them to pay to attend? Is there ANY way they can at least give them a proper heads up, like an extra note with the invitation? Perhaps they can also encourage them to arrive early and stay late for the other festivities and events, to make it worth their while?
What would be the best course of action?
SD, THANK YOU!!!!! We're actually only about a 1/2 hour from there, so we might to tomorrow (they're closed today, lol).
Also, I found someone who specializes in steampunk clothing, so we're also meeting up with her tomorrow for measurements, etc to get my gown made. :-)
If anyone is interested, her shop is...

Hello, everyone! :-)
I'm new to this, so please bear with me. :-) I have a question and I'm REEEEEALLY hoping that someone can help me out here...
Does anyone know where I can find a blue Steampunk gown similar to this one, for $300, more or less?
http://sparklyjem.blogspot.com/search/label/weddings
In truth, I'm starting to get a little desperate because I need to find a local shop (or at least one not TOO far away) where I can try the gowns on rather than ordering them online.
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Comment by Cameron on December 16, 2011 at 6:01pm So I'm new to steampunk and the empire. It'll be nice now that I found a local group that has the same interests.
I was wondering how often do you guys meet/hang out/do events?
I havnt ever seen any steampunk events in the KC area till the kansas city steampunk circus social II: A clockwork Christmas that happened December 10th. ever since I saw that there were in deed events in the kansas city area for steampunk I have been greatly intrigued by steampunk.
Comment by Prof. Audie O. Phile, DMus on October 5, 2011 at 11:35am Hi guys... my first post here: I have put up with great fear and trembling, a Steampunk "Instructable". I am hoping that y'all might want to check it out and give me any healthy criticism that my fragile ego can stand? I am furiously building a Steampunk backpack and arm console combo for a deadline of October 15th.

Thanks!
