I'm not really fit for personal appearances at the moment (medical stuff, ugh...), but I'd be up for something once I'm better.  As for forum activity, there's the possibility that the next group is just as lively as this one currently is, with the added bonus of people needing to find the new one.  I'd say keep this section as-is and focus on stirring up some activity.  Then again, I'm one of the newer people here, so I'm not aware of the history of this ethereal stream of binary.

I don't see how that'll make a big difference.  It's not like creating a new group will suddenly attract new Maine Steampunkers or make the existing ones get off their butts.  What we need to do is get in touch with everyone in the group, send them a "Wake up" message, and if there's no reply or sign of life, delete them from the group and try to accomplish something with the people who're active.

Ok guys i need to ask the group something....i wish to inject some life into it and bring those steampunks in maine together but this group seems pretty defunct. should we scrap it and start a new one?

It is snowing.  I am unable to pursue my research in offshore energy due to emergency repairs required for my undersea laboratory.  I pick up and put down my needlework, a novel, and far too much pie.  This must end.

Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me for a parlour game.  I shall begin a story, set in Maine, and invite you to continue my story by replying to my comment.  The number of players and frequency of comments doesn't matter. Just add a little color when you have a moment, and we shall create a marvelous comment-chain of entertainment.  (Please be gracious when errors in spelling or grammar are made, dears. We all misplace our modifiers, now and then.)

I begin:

Murielle strained to hear church bells.  According to the note she had received, the stranger would meet her at one o'clock in the morning, in the dye room of the Biddeford mill. She had hidden herself behind a vast vat of foul-smelling dye since nine that evening, with the note that promised to provide a clue she desperately needed, and a long blade tucked into her right boot.  She held her breath as footsteps signaled the beginning of her rendezvous.

Guten Tag Arzt Wolfe und Dame Ilana!  Welcome to the Empire and Steampunk in general.  I would be delighted to converse on the topic of a possible get together.  I believe step one is figuring out what and when.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Well, having arrived here all of (*checks watch*) a day ago, I could be considered a new arrival.  While I may lack the appropriate attire, I'm certainly open for a gathering of like-minded individuals.

Well, I will be here for certain.  I think we need to do something as simple as getting together for a movie, or to play a tabletop game, or anything that people like.  Perhaps find a day that works for the majority of people within driving distance of one another, and label that the weekly Maine Steampunks day when we just do whatever.  In my opinion, waiting/relying on stuff like Portcon to create opportunities for us to gather will result in us meeting up once a year and not bothering to be active here.  This would displease me, especially since I've seen some of the Portcon kids at the mall foodcourt and I can't guarantee I wouldn't turn my cannons on the Wyndham after enduring their company for that long. XD

Problem is not enough people (myself included) check the Empire or here. We need to tell people. I'm going to try and use the Empire more but if anyone wants I could use some help spreading word. Just drop me a line to my inbox.
