I commend your efforts. I have been steampunking for many years now and there seems to be a steampunk vacuum between Raleigh and Charlotte with no more than a handfull of interested souls.  The Triangle folks can rarely be coaxed westward except to travel to Dragoncon or Anachrocon.  I would make every effort to attend from Greensboro, whatever the venue, but frankly, I would be surprised if anyone else showed up.  There are not even many fair weather steampunks west of Raleigh. Most of the Virginia steampunks are also concentrated on the coast.  If anyione who reads this thinks I am wrong, please chime in, I would love to be proven wrong.  I am trying to start up a Splendiod Teapot Racing series using New Zealand rules and could use some more participants.

Yes I know of the train depot there in Spencer, I am looking at multiple locations and styles of gatherings. I am in the process of buying a house and property in Spencer so was also considering a gathering at the house with a nice fire etc. since I will have 1.5 acres approx. But I would love to get something situated but the locations that are willing to host gatherings for us would like to get an idea of what numbers we will have there so they can rope off a section just for our group and make sure we have servers etc. assigned to our area. I have been doing a lot of leg work on this but here again it is people who want to do this in real need to get a bit more involved. I have never had this issue with being part of SCA, or LARP, NERO events and gatherings. I wanted to do something different that I hadn't done before and well it is seeming to me to be falling flat on people actually wanting to actively participate. Just what I am noticing, which is something I find a bit disappointing.

Spencer is even better!  Right next to Salisbury with STEAM LOCOMOTIVES!  I once tried to organize a meet and photo shoot there.  No one showed up except me.  I brought a tripod with me and took my own pictures with a timer.  One of the pictures was eventually published in Lisa Griffith's Book of International Steampunk Fashions.  Getting a group of people to show up for something is like herding cats with ADD.  XD

A date with cooler weather would be nice, a Saturday or Sunday.  The NC Museum of Transportation in Sopencer provides an amazing backdrop for photos.  They even have a working roundhouse!

well that is part of the reason why I am trying to get input from everyone in the area who are interested in this on what dates would be best and time frames that would be good that everyone would like to see happen. Along with how often, etc. I don't want to throw out a date and time without seeing how many are interested and I would like to get  input from everyone to try and put together a decent enough type of schedule for gatherings and events.

Well it's hard to commit 100% without a date and time. Salisbury is a decent location because we are right in between Charlotte and Greensboro. We are an hour or less from either and everyone in between could get here with minimal problems (except for the 85 construction in the Concord area).

Well it would be great to get this set up and I have a few locations that are willing to host it for us as well, and then it would be a full garb event. But I need to get an idea of who and how many would actually show up for it and not just say they will.

A social gathering in the Salisbury area would be lovely.

I have found a place in Salisbury, NC that is willing to host a recuring Steampunk venue if there is enough interest and if there is enough participation for it to be held. full garb get together if I can get enough people in the area to want to do this. So please let me know. Thanks.
