Punky Steamers events in Raleigh area for 2012

I will monitor this group, but I cringe everytime I see "punky steamers" in print.  Please poll your membership regarding this term while it is still early.  Why the attempted renaming of an established and respected genre?  Was the name "Cutesy Kitten Club" already taken?  ;-)

Well, the group was named over a year ago before I joined, but I don't really have an issue with it. I think it was just meant as a play on words for the club name, rather than any attempt at renaming "steampunk".

Out of curiosity, what would you suggest for a name?

The name should reflect some formality and class, like The Carolina Society of Retronauts or The North Carolina Guild of Faux Historians, or borrowing from Emilie Autumn, The Wayward Victorian Assembly of North Carolina.  Other possibilities include reference to time travelers, chrononauts, adventurers, etc..  Doesn't that sound more like something of which one would take pride in participation?

Formality was a basic tenet of Victorian life.  The club name should reflect that in my humble opinion.

Free Passes to Advanced Showing of "The Raven" in Raleigh!

Sunday, May 6th - Steam Train ride in New Hope (off US1, just southwest of Cary, NC)

We will meet at the New Hope Valley Railway for an hour-long steam train ride at 12:15 pm.  Costumes are preferred, but not required.  We would love to get some nice group photos!

Please purchase tickets directly on  http://www.nhvry.org/ for the 12:15pm ride as soon as possible. I don't know if there will be additional tickets available on-site.
