paper gamers table

This is a place for those who remember gaming before it became electronic, and you could play around a table with dice paper and friends.

Just to get the ball rolling I would have to say that T.S.R.'s second edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons was the best, it had its quirks, but lots of folks me included loved, and still do love…Continue

Are there any SteamPunk RPGs or boardgames that you would strongly recommend?

I have tried several but none has quite risen to the top of the stack yet.  What RPGs and boardgames would you personally recommend and why?  Go ahead and be a salesman. Continue

Greetings, all.  Just a quick self-intro:  I was a board wargamer for three decades, cutting my teeth on Avalon Hill's Gettysburg, and wrapping up with Third Reich.  I moved to the PC because it memorized the 128-page rulebook for you, thereby eliminating the entire worst part of the experience.  Of course, it also eliminated the best part, the friends-around-the-table aspect.  I am currently looking at dipping my toe back into friends-around-the-table, having received Gearworld for my birthday and Firefly: The Card Game a bit before that.  I put a couple of titles on my Christmas list, and this looks like a great place to hear those who have kept current talk shop while I wait to see what the fat man brings.  Looking forward to getting back into it; I'll start some discussions when and if I find that I have something to say.

Hope y'all have a great Holiday, and I'll see you around the site.

Greetings, I just joined and found this group with like minds of how gaming used to be. Though I may have my share of console and computer games, I was introduced to RPG's in early 2000's, enjoyed it ever since. I even created some of my own.

hi I am new. i just wanted to ask if anyone has seen the new return to ravnica set for MTG? I found a site where a guy is making D&D classes for the ten guilds. Thinking of running a game with them. Plus the Izzet seem like steampunk magic users to me. what do you think?

Does anyone remember Blackmoor? The fantasy setting where most of us got our first taste in science fantasy in D&D?

Found an old set of rules for a table top miniature skirmish game titled Reencounter. Relatively good rules for snap-shot One miniature = One Character...ranging from French and Indian War up to WWI. Contact Me if you are interested in a copy and we'll work out how to get it to you.

I still loved 2nd the most, I also loved 1st but it was hard. Most players I am not sure could handle it now. I love bringing old school tactics to newer players, they can not even handle most of my tactics. As a GM/DM I have almost given players heart attacks with my random twists and surprises.

Also it is nice to see this group come alive again.

I've read it, not had an opportunity to play it, and I understand the "effort to balance the game", but don't like the "let's give everyone 'magical' powers" or the obvious nods to WoW... like the "roles" that suddenly every character has... I mean, leaders were who we chose for the night, not which class best fit the role...
