Anyone interested in costume may find interest in the Seattle Opera Costume Sale, tomorrow, August 16 2014, 10 am to 5 pm. Also featuring copious costume offerings from Pacific Northwest Ballet, Village Theater, the 5th Avenue Theater, and Teatro ZinZanni. Modern and period costumes and accessories, odds and ends with great potential for restyling and salvage. I have spent the last several weeks sorting pieces for the sale, and I selected many pieces with notable Steamy potential. I'd very much like to see some of these items adorning the Seattle steam scene. It will ease my grief in parting with them! Further details: location is Seattle Opera's rehearsal studio at 200 Terry Ave N, in the South Lake Union Neighborhood (not at McCaw Hall!). Doors open to the public at 10 am. Cash or checks only. Come prepared to try costumes over your clothes, as we have no private fitting areas. People may be lining up early. When we had our last major sale in 2005, the line went two blocks and around the corner!
I hope to see some of you there.

Just announced!  I am going to be the Guest of Honor at Brass Screw Confederacy in Port Townsend WA, June 6th - 8th!  Their theme is "Octopi Port Townsend"!  It should be tentacular!   I hope you can join us!

I was asked by my dear friend of mine, asked me to share this:

A lot of my friends from this site have joined the other new SP site,, so have and will continue to spend a lot of time there.

This doesn't mean I'm leaving this site by any means, because for one it is useful to me and not a bad site on the whole. But second and more importantly, there are many people here on this site that i enjoy conversing with and consider doing so time well spent.

So, I encourage you to check out the new site mentioned above and join if you like. It is small right now, but in many ways is freer than The Empire and offers certain things that The Empire does not.

Hope to see all of you soon,

Captain Maximillian Drake,

HMS Wyvern

PS- For those of you airship captains out there, interested in some friendly competition or perhaps honing your skills or both, we have started an airship dueling RP group on the new site.

Maisie Teasworth and I are organizing a tweed ride in the spring to raise money for Jubilee House. We will be needing volunteers to help out.  This will be a fun ride along mostly bike trail to fabulous places like Red Hook Brewery, with tea and cakes in between.  More information to follow.

Hello Mr. Franklin.  There isn't really much discussion on this forum.  However, the Seattle Steamrats seem to meet rather frequently.  Here is their event page:

Welcome to Seattle.

Hello everybody!

I hope that it is alright I have joined your group, even though I am not yet in Seattle. You see, I am in Kentucky, but will be moving to the Seattle area in May, and was hoping to get a feel for the steampunk crowd that I will (hopefully) be integrating into upon my arrival. Does this group have meetings often?

It somehow totally slipped my mind that Steam Con is tomorrow.  Thank God I've got the weekend off.

My dear Steam Rats, Air Kraken Hunters and other persons of steamy

I have been approached to organize Captain Nemos Ball at SteamCon this
year, but the budget for this is very limited. I need extra funds for
musicians and a good caller and we do not want to charge extra for
this event so I am desperately in search of sponsors.  Sponsors would
get free advertising in the program, but here's the catch, I have to
secure sponsors by August 31st to get them in the program.

If any of you would like to be a sponsor, or know of any business that
would benefit from sponsoring Captain Nemo's Ball, please message me here.
