Thought I'd post something fun. It's a compilation video of the John Pertwee version of Doctor Who, who was a Master of "Venusian Aikido". It's really WW2 Combatives, but it's still fun to watch.…Continue

Recently new to the area I believe that if there is going to be Steam Fu, there should be different methods of how to dissarm, and down an opponent. Any suggestions on catagories?

I am interested in joining a club that studies and practices the art of Bartitsu. I am in the North East Ohio area, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could go about doing this?

I have started a Meetup "like" group online, using Group-o-matic. Our first meetup will be at this year's Alabama Phoenix Festival. If you're interested in attending, please feel free to join the group at http://www.groupomatic.com/c.pl?c=13731746-csg6ztq9pz-958824&a=1 . Hope to see plenty of people there in their finest frockery! :)
Comment by Rachel Klingberg on May 7, 2012 at 2:10pm It's nice to see some activity on this discussion! That's a fine-looking Chicago group - I love seeing the students in costume! FYI Professor Mark Donnelly will be teaching at Steampunk World's Faire again this year (May 18-21, 2012) and he will also be available for private lessons. And he's returning to NYC July 28-29, 2012 for another weekend of Bartitsu seminars for the Bartitsu Club of NYC, of which I am the founder. Anyway, let's keep up the historic martial arts discussion!
I apologize for letting this group die down. Totally my fault. I'm hoping to post new stuff soon. :)

Comment by Sharon Fiscus on February 6, 2012 at 11:13am Darn. The commute would be terrible. This cow-town of Denver needs some civilizing.
Comment by Xavier Day on February 5, 2012 at 11:56pm Chicago just opened our very own 1900's culture gym which houses our local Bartitsu club. There are still places in the Winter class if you are interested: Bartitsu with Tony Wolf
Posted for your information I'll be teaching a workshop on steampunk martial arts at SteamCon III later this year.
With best regards from San Francisco
