Is it OK if I (or someone) starts a discussion thread for the May Picnic?

Greetings! Noddy Brothers told me of this group. I've been a long-time fan of steampunk and am reviving my costuming hobby. My husband and I live in Moore.

I do know Louis Scott, who runs the Exhibition Center & is pretty much in charge of the gardens. (I used to hold a model horse show in the Exhibition Center) I could give him a call & see when would be a good time for us to do this, *if* there's enough support for it.

I second WIll Rogers Park as a lovely place for a Steamy Picnic. The Rose Garden is gorgeous and a perfect place for Steamy Tea Party.

Sometime in May would be lovely, as long as we have shade.

Never been to that park, but I've heard its beautiful. I wonder how many people would want to do that? I think it would be fun...although we do need a little time to get out costumes finished. LOL Maybe sometime next month?

Hm... we may have to run up for a day to TnT. And then there's always Soonercon the first weekend in June, over at the Biltmore hotel.
I would love a steampunk picnic. Some place nice and shady -- perhaps Will Rogers Park, the gardens there are lovely.

Ms. Mouse...good to see a fellow okie. Welcome. My wife and I love steampunk, and working on getting our steampunk costumes and gadgets ready for TNT on Tulsa in June, but budget makes it where we can't do Conestoga. We have been looking for people to get together in the local area though (we're from Norman), but not very much response. It would be cool to do a Steampunk/19th century picnic sometime this spring or something, if anyone is interested. Would give everyone a chance to meet eachother.

New to steampunk, but not to fandom and costuming. My husband and I live in Edmond. I would enjoy getting together with others in the metro -- there a re plenty of lovely sites here for outings.
Anyone attending Conestoga in Tulsa this weekend?

I would be interested in meeting people, but I'm not really prepared costume-wise for any get-togethers. My costuming falls more into the Ren-Faire area and, having just had a baby, I'm not really in a good position financially or time-wise to put something together.
