SATURDAY, July 20th, 2013, from 4 pm - 7 pm Karpeles Manuscript Library
Bartitsu is an eclectic martial art and self-defence method originally developed in England during the years 1898–1902. In 1901 it was immortalised (as "baritsu") by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes mystery stories.[1] Although dormant throughout most of the 20th century, bartitsu has been experiencing a revival since 2002.
It will consist of the history and origins followed by a class on the art. Please wear comfortable clothes (period or non) and bring along a stout Cane or staff.

Comment by Dr. Ether A Go-go on May 25, 2012 at 7:15pm Thanks Prof. Christoph Von Ahrent and Megan for putting up character development stuff. I have badly been needing to do revisions, updates and needed to expand on myself. I usually have a hard time writing that type of stuff. But I think I did pretty well. I updated the wiki and this site. :)
Comment by Prof. Christoph Von Ahrent on May 23, 2012 at 12:56pm Thanks to Megan the Character sheet is on:

Comment by Prof. Christoph Von Ahrent on May 7, 2012 at 10:21pm This is my usual pledge drive... please take a look at the wiki... and add your persona to the growing list of persona's and rich history that is cowford...
http://cowfordsteampunksociety.wikia.com/wiki/Cowford_Steampunk_Soc...
If you have stories and such feel free to add them in as well... I will be adding a section on ephemera with such things as passports and the like...Along with official permits from the city etc...
Comment by Prof. Christoph Von Ahrent on May 6, 2012 at 2:56pm Auntie and I have been expanded on our persona's and extending this out into doing LARP as we go to the various conventions as well other than just walking around in our gear. When we attended Steampunk convention we ran into the Airship Isabella
they currently have a group of like minded groups across the US which is called SCARS...

http://scarsvsorder.wikia.com/wiki/S.C.A.R.S._vs_Order
This is for those who are wanting to do more with their persona's than just dressing up... (Nothing wrong with just wanting to dress up or work on gadgets etc... thats the wonderful thing about Steampunk and our Group... we are not limited to just one part). Now don't think we are is changing because we are not! This is just another level of fun.. / fleshing out your persona and the Freeport of Cowford... This also allows us to LARP at conventions we go to... There is also a 'in character' board here on facebook where we can be in persona. As a little background of the group there is currently a 'war' going on between SCARS and the Order...
The SCARS Resistance. Unified in the fight for freedom from the oppressive forces of the Order, they have banded together from many backgrounds and standpoints.
The Order. Call it if you will the Empire of the time. Exists as evil in both action and design. It seeks to eliminate all threats to their growing desire for power and expansion. Littered with coal run machinery and it's drug laced economy, they are known to operate heavily on the ideals of assimilation through force. Ultimately, the Order wants the mind and soul of every individual to be one with them and their cause.
For the moment Cowford and La Florida have declared neutrality and is taking the role of a Freeport where as long as both sides are cordial and observe the peace they are welcome.
We are working with the SCARS creative group to incorporate what we have already documented in our history / wiki into the SCARS universe.
Additionally I have gathered all of the classes they have given at conventions and will be figuring out how to either put it up on our wiki for people to download and burn to DVD's or give a set of links... I know alot of people have issues trying to flesh out their persona's and i am hoping this might help and get people motivated in fleshing out their persona's on the wiki's... What are every ones thoughts...

Comment by Lady Ka'Nib on April 25, 2012 at 8:12am Hello everyone within Cowford. I know I have not walked amongst you for several months now and a few of you might not even know me. But I fear this is not a tidings of good news.I am going to be traveling abroad once more. I do not know when or if I will be returning to Cowford. I have loved my time with you all and cherish is most dearly. But the adventure calls to me I have spent 3 years here. the longest I have stayed in one place.
The next adventure begins as this one ends in Virginia Beach. I have always wanted to see what that area held that would be mysterious and advantageous to ones own wallet. My time within Cowford is rapidly coming to a close. With this I bid you all a very fond Adieu.
