Okay. I hope everything is alright, or at least nothing too serious.
There is a slight hitch regarding the grounds. Over the last year or so they have added fees due to the popularity of the site. From an email:
"For the grounds it is $35.00 for the first hour and $15.00 for each additional hour. We require a $100.00 deposit that is returnable with a successful clean up."
Bearing in mind that these only apply if we want to reserve them. Pretty much anyone can have an open picnic. However, this allows for parking and guarantees space. It may be better for a group that's just starting out to look for other options. Especially since we don't know how many would actually attend.
I am continuing to look for other suitable locations. North Baltimore's park has a preserved old-school caboose and a really nice tree line. Both of which would be great for photos. Van Buren State Park is also beautiful with lots of isolated areas.
As for the name, I was thinking about something that hints at an approximate locality. Something like "Neo-Victorians of North West Ohio". Though I like the idea of keeping it simple.
Has Justin been on recently? It'd be great to hear his two cents.
My internet has been in and out, so progress is a bit slow on my end. I still need to contact the parks district as they are the ones who handle the grounds. Here's the area I'm looking into. It seems like the perfect place for a SP event.
As a rule, Mondays and Thursdays are typically good on my end. The occasional Saturday can be made available too. I'll be checking in on the Wood County Historical Society grounds. Once we find an open date, we can work from there. By the way, what are we going to call our would-be group? It's hard to spread the word about things without a hosting party. Reservations for party rooms and such are also a bit easier to make with a group name as well.
There should be. I don't know about you, but I'd rather talk in person than online.
