The purpose of our society is to bring together a league of forward thinking individuals for the common purpose of perpetuating moments in time to feed our collective interest in the realm of selective anachronistic anachronism. So there.

Comment by Major Myers on May 6, 2013 at 3:27pm Hello Professor Crackle!
I'm not sure how to answer that. I think it is very approachable. For more info you can check out the main website for the Bartitsu Society here:
I'd be happy to answer any specific questions. Thanks!
Major,
Other than reading about it in The Janus Affair, I don't know much about it. How approachable is it?
Comment by Major Myers on May 5, 2013 at 4:46am Is anyone in the Montgomery County area interested in Bartitsu? I am starting a Bartitsu group and just gave an "intro" session for 3 local Steampunkers yesterday in Olney Maryland. If anyone is interested in getting involved, my eMail is:

Comment by Madame vonHedwig on November 22, 2012 at 8:54am You are cordially invited to a Steampunk Stroll meetup in historic Harpers Ferry, WV on December 9, 2012 at 2pm. We'll meet at the Park Service bus shelter on Shenandoah Street and take in the old town. Plenty of gorgeous natural and 19th century settings for photos, and a chance to support local businesses for your holiday shopping. There's even a Steampunk shop! More information here: http://www.steampunkfamily.com/2012/11/steampunk-stroll-in-harpers-...
Hope to see you!

Comment by Athene Radcliffe, Ph.D. on November 6, 2012 at 1:31pm If anyone is looking for a project; the Columbia Goodwill on Snowden River Pkwy has a circa 1900 pump organ for $200. It is about the size of a small console piano in light oak with some nice turned do-dads. Don't know if it works but it would make a nice display piece with a little refinishing. I've seen one of these redone as a small desk with built in lights and extra brass bits.
Or if you are really handy:

We already have a ca. 1850 pump organ in our living room awaiting restoration, otherwise I would snap it up.
(Sorry if this is a repeat post for you, I'm not sure of the overlap between SASI and the BWI group)
Comment by Athene Radcliffe, Ph.D. on October 17, 2012 at 8:32pm According to recent posts on the Baltimore Washington Steampunker's Society
(I'm not sure that will link properly- it is another one of the SP Empire groups) There is some talk of a Steampunk presence this weekend at the MD Renaissance Fest
Comment by Capt. Xavier T.J. Zimmerman on September 6, 2012 at 6:52am Hello all,
I am planning an excursion with some friends to the MD Ren Faire on Sept 15th, and I was wondering when the unofficial, official Steam day was going to be? Professor Moone, will you be making the Aether jump this year to attend? Is anyone else going to be making the jump? Hope to see you all there!
