The Pitt-Greensburg Theatre Company will open its 2013-2014 main-stage schedule with “The Birth of Merlin, or The Child Has Found His Father” by William Shakespeare and William Rowley. This production is to pit Victorian Britains against Gothic Saxon Vampires, utilizing a steampunk aesthetic with Jules Verne-esque settings and costumes.

“The Birth of Merlin” will be performed at Pitt-Greensburg’s Ferguson Theater November 21 through November 23 at 7:30 p.m., and November 24 at 2:00 p.m. The Friday night performance (the one I am going to) will have a steampunk costume contest.

Ladies and gentlemen, boils and ghouls! Trundle Manor is proud to present, Wunder-Sleaze, the most unusual mixture of Curiosities and entertainment you will ever see. Some said it could not be done, but those people were too afraid to say it out loud. Wunder-Sleaze combines pain, rockabilly, and horror all tied up with a bit of circussy goodness. And like a razorblade laden polka dot bow tied by the ghost of Elvis, we will embrace you with uneasy feelings of pure throbbing joy!

Run by Trundle Manor and Natalie Jean of Sleaze Palace, you are sure to get your fill. We are hosting at the beautiful and old-timey Hollywood Theatre in Dormont, PA, and this is the first of an annual series of events. The Hollywood is one of the few privately owned movie houses that is still around and doing events, and we are glad we could find somewhere fitting for the drooling mongrels we are inviting into the Trundle Family to demonstrate their unnerving prowess.

Jump in with both stumps and bob around with the likes of Trundle Manor’s Traveling Creepshow, a movie from Backseat Conceptions and Sleaze Palace, dripping pain-proof acts, some burlesque pleasures, and two live bands! Pain Solution of Oslo, Norway is doing an east coast tour and we are lucky enough to be their Pittsburgh stop for their visual experience of brutal aesthetics and extreme body control. They are accompanied by members of the renowned Squidling Brothers from Philadelphia, PA who will be performing a stunning selection of sword swallowing and vaudevillian fakir acts. Our bands are both Pittsburgh proprietors of jiggle inducing modern rockabilly. The sleazy jams of The Jason Martinko Revue, and ever disturbing The Legendary Hucklebucks are sure to get into your heads! The movie, Cross Bearer, might make you feel the need to remove your insides through the use of oral expulsion, but that’s what it’s for! What kind of sleaze show would it be without some eye candy? For all you jaw droppers out there we’ve brought in Bella Sin to give you an old timey feel down the front of your slacks. Bella Sin, Cleveland's Burlesque Queen and Cleveland Most Interesting Person 2011. She’s the wiggle that makes your thang jiggle!

We are sprinkling in vendors of all kinds to push their creepy wares at your awe inspired faces, so bring your wad and spend like your life is being threatened by a carnie! These are going to be the best vendors of unusual items that we can scrounge up. I mean: Pittsburgh has to offer!

The first 100 attendees will receive a special goodies bag provided by Trundle Manor with joy churning awesomeness inside, and a limited edition pin and other piddily crap that you will cream over! That’s right! You will eat a whole tub of whipped cream over these trinkets! Get there early!

To top it off, booze will be provided to of age folks by Gray Kangaroo with their revolutionary device for turning bottom shelf, bathtub gin style, crap alcohol into something as smooth as those drizzled over diamonds. We are going against the emaciated angels on our right shoulders and offering an open bar (while it lasts) until 9:30pm! We plan on having you all be a mess while people shove things into their body for your pleasure. Makes sense to us.

All of this will happily caress your inside pockets for the mere drizzle of $10 a ticket in advance and $15 at the door. Trust us, you’ll get so many bangs for your bucks you’ll need to drain for days.

If you miss this grainy dip into our pool of blood, the demon sitting at the foot of your bed is sure to slither forward and render your flesh in disapproval. Not that that is always a bad thing, but in this case, it’s meant to be. So, until our debauchery is unveiled before you, dear fiends we bid you good rubbings!

Well met! I'm quite certain you'll notice I'm new here. I just thought it would be fantastic to stop by and introduce myself. I've lived in Pittsburgh for over ten years, and steampunk has long been at the periphery of my interests, not just for the beautiful clothing, but the ideaology as well. Now, finally, I'd like to count myself among you. I shall be pleased to make all your acquaintances!

The Steel City Steam Society is planning on going to Old Bedford Village (just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike at Bedford) in a week and a half for the "Gunfight at the O.K. Corral" recreation. That means there is plenty of time to watch "Tombstone" on Netflix and make arrangements for car pooling.

RSVP at the event at http://www.thesteampunkempire.com/events/gunfight-at-old-bedford-vi...

I am also thinking of going to the Civil War encampment at Old Bedford Village this weekend.

And "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is opening in a week and a half. We will definitely have to make arrangements to see that.

Oh, and Pittsburgh Filmmakers is showing the restored, hand colored "A Trip to the Moon" by Georges Melies at Regent Square June 18-21. Probably making plans to see it that Wednesday.

Stay tuned and converse here so that things can happen.
