World Steam is going to be here faster than we can imagine, so if you can't wait for all of the social & vending fun and you want to catch up with local Detroit, Michigan area Steampunks, you should come to Off The Beaten Path on December 11th for the Holiday Bizarre Bazaar!

Hello my friends! I am Santiago Dunbar, Captain of the merchant airskiff S.S. Beatrix. Me and my not-so-humble crew invite you to peruse our wares here at the "Steampunk Surplus". We scour the globe in search of rare and beautiful items for your purchase, especially medallions, awards, merits such as the "Seal of Tsinchow", the "Key to the City of Melbourne", and the "Griffin Preservation Award".

We also refurbish classic firearms such as the Hamilton Mk-II Blaster Caster and the Tannhauser "Matilda" Combination Rifle. Take a look when you have the chance, and may the wind be at your back!

Quite enjoyed the Expo this year and hope to help out some next year.  It's fascinating to watch something new growing up.  Last year I'd only heard about it through a friend, finally got to experience it this year.  I can only see it getting better and better over time.

Yes, a wonderful con.  Even bilocation skills would not have been enough; there were often three things I wanted to do at once.  Life, though, is like that (c.f. marriage).  It was well worth the 9-hour drive each way.  I only wish the website had updated more frequently.  I spent a few months worrying that I'd sent my registration fees into the aether.  The Facebook presence was not well-managed either.  I found myself directed to the 2010 page, and could not seem to get myself onto the 2011 one.  But, it all came together wonderfully well at the end.  Every performer was supurb, every panel was intelligent, the IAPS and Aegis displayed boundless energy and skill.  For my job, I am forced to accumulate 3 annual credit hours in multiculturalism.  Invariably, this has been a dreary task reminiscent of catechism; rote learning of catchphrases.  The Multiculturalism in Steampunk panel was graceful, intelligent, moving, and informative for me, and still has me thinking.  I cannot thank the IAPS enough for this.  I am sorry Tartanic spent so much time being chased from place to place as they tried to play.  I could easily have listened to much more of them, though I could say the same of the rest of the bands.  I'll be listening for info about 2012.  Overall, a few minor quibbles, but an awesome production, prodigious efforts, and superb results.

I too, had a wonderful time at the Expo.  Unfortunately, the scheduling made it difficult to attend all the various things I was interested in but I still had an excellent experience and plan to attend again next year.

The Expo, what little of it I was able to attend, was truly smashing. I hope to join you for the full weekend next year. Well done, ladies and gentlemen. Well done indeed.
