Definitely a treasured item. World War One is my favorite war to study, so I'll have to do some research on the history of that Regiment at the Somme.

The helmet is a replica British one from 1899, but the bits and pieces are from various armies of various times, plus some additions of my own. The whole thing is intended to be from Ruritania, a fictional Central European country, c. 1889. Based on the novels of Anthony Hope such as "The Prisoner of Zenda." Thanks for the kind words and I salute your grandfather.
