I commend you for your frugal and inventive recycling of the radio and etcetera. 
Incidentally, I too was once involved in the commercial manufacture of chocolates...in my case I was a machinist in a factory where we made chocolate-coated after-dinner mints, similar to M&Ms.  I now know the Secrets!

One of my functions was to install a piping system to move molten Dutch Process chocolate from a tanker truck to the storage tank on the third floor of our building.   It saved a great deal of work instead of melting down 5 Kg. bars....1000 Kg. at a time.
