I was asked by a friend today who was exasperated with my constant surfing of steampunk fashion and my overwhelming love of steampunk themed literature, the parasol protecerate being a favorite of…Continue

Profile Information

Howdy my name is Vivianne Pill I am gathering capitol to begin a luxury parasol shoppe for the discerning ladies & airship captains alike.

(I'm Ashley, from Utah, and I am thoroughly displeased with the limited amount of cute, steampunk style parasols, so to remedy this, after talking with my husband to be, I've decided to begin making them, as soon as I can get my hands on a sewing machine. I've liked steam punk for a while now but I'm just now beginning to work on my persona, the thought never occurred to me until I began browsing this lovely site. Though as an avid role player, it shouldn't take to long to get it sorted.)

Indeed it did my dear. I've long been fascinated with art and science and my general work is to combine the two to make them more accessible to the wider public. The problem is not everyone finds science interesting and many find the notion of quantum physics intimidating. To me its wonderous and i try to imbue that sense of wonder and a general playful quality into the work to negate the intimidation factor. Living in Ireland one cant help but be aware of the influence the Victorian era had. A sense of grace and respect that well, frankly does not exist in modern societies. To me it seems that Steampunk takes all that was good about the Victorian era and marry it to modern day tech which is what i want to do but with art and science.

Utterly new to the whole scene but it seams to be a natural progression for me and my art. To help streamline my art process id love to convey the very essence of Steampunk to the wider art public, so my question dear lady is 'What does Steampunk mean to you' not a dictionary definition but what is its very essence to you?

My favorite parts of Steampunk Style

Posted on September 29, 2011 at 1:58am 0 Comments

Out of all the steamy goodness that exists in steampunk fashion, I've found that I tend to have a few favorite things that will make me pause to take a good look at them. What parts of steampunk fashion do you like the most?.

  1. Long skirts. Pretty basic here, they are feminine and flattering. The best part I think is that they can be worn in so many different ways by bustling them or layering them. You really can make your own look with a simple floor…

Re-purposing on a Budget: Target Edition *Male*

Now the first thing I have to point out is that you will have to do some gender bending shopping. There are items on this list that are designed for females but in my opinion are unisex items to begin with. If you aren't comfortable looking in the woman's section shoes, I'd recommend doing your shopping online.

Item on our list is pair of pants. Several options came to mind but after looking over the meager men's collection online I decided to go with an adventurer look. To…

Re-purposing on a Budget: Target Edition *Female*

So, as I was doing my insomnia routine and window shopping for steampunk wares I came to the sad realization that a lot of it costs a ton of money. Unfortunately I am not making a ton of money to get all the pretty things I see on Etsy. Because if I did have limitless cash flow, these two would be…

Everyday Re-purposing

Posted on September 24, 2011 at 11:00pm 0 Comments

I can spend hours searching the internet for steampunk clothing, yet it seems like no matter how many google searches spent clicking each "o" there are really only two or three sites that you keep getting redirected back to. So instead of searching for steampunk, and moving to a less tedious method of browsing, I typed fashion into my Stumble Interest bar. You would not believe some of the wonderful things I've found. Things that with the right accessories are more steampunk than some of…
