Utterly new to the whole scene but it seems to be a natural progression for me and my art. To help streamline my art process id love to convey the very essence of Steampunk to the wider fine art…Continue

Vivianne Pill said… To answer your question; steampunk is the revival of high standards of ettiquette, self reliance, ingenuity, and creativity, and beauty. There is so much you can gain from interracting and delving into steampunk. Here are some of the reasons why it has become more then just a fashion trend for me.
Steampunk manages to bring the beauty and artistry back into day to day devices. Who doesn't admire the delicate scroll work of brass, copper and pewter against polished wood? When everything we do is mass produced, copied, machine built, steampunk comes along and throws that all to the ground. I love how it can turn an iPod something that almost everyone around you has, into a piece of art. I love how each steampunk re-vamp is loved by the person making. That it reflects the personality of the person behind it.
As I mentioned in one of my posts in the forums, steampunk raises the bar for social interaction. Reintroducing ettiquette and social niceties into a society that has largely done away with them. It makes life so much more enjoyable and stress free when you can strike up a conversation with anyone and expect to have an equal exchange of respect from both parties simply because it's polite.
Finally, my favorite thing about steampunk, is that it is inspiring. Look how many people create because they love steampunk. How many people are driven to learn new things because of steampunk. I've followed a lot of fads in my life. Everything from being a kandy kid raver, EGL, punk, even for very brief time, a bit of a goth. But not once in all those previous periods have I been motivated to make things in those genres. Now I find myself looking at everything and thinking "How can I make that more steampunk-y, well I'll need to look up a how to on this this and this, but I can definitely do it."
So to wrap up everything nicely, steampunk is a complete reinvention of life. From your view of the things around you, to the way you treat others, to the very way you live and think. Hope this sufficiently answers your question.
