The Crossroads of the Aether
So AnachroCon 4 happens next weekend in Atlanta. Cita and I are already packing basic clothing and choosing outfits to take. I'm also working on ray guns, and have been for some time. Those of you who have been looking at my photos here, and the larger collection of photos on my Facebook page already know just what sorts of things I've been making.
I'm most emphatically *not* going to have everything finished that I wanted to take to the Con. The work is taking longer than I expected…Continue
As some folks already know, a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving I was asked to create a ray gun prop for a pro-writer friend who is just getting into steampunk. She has fallen in love with our styles of clothing and gear, but felt that she couldn't afford any of the sidearms that she had seen…Continue
I recently got back into making music and joined a website called SoundCloud to have a place to post it online. One of the projects I created is a Suite of Steampunk / Neo-Classical music with the overall theme of Airships.
I titled it "The 10,000 Airships Suite" and there are currently 5 pieces in the work-in-progress. Eventually, the music will be re-edited to add voice acting in several pieces. Sort of like "Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds" but without Martians, Heat Rays, and…
Captain Vila Resthal has not received any gifts yet
As a word of explanation, if you are visiting my page because of a friend request that I have sent to you and you have no Earthly idea who I am and we have never interacted in any way... Well, I scroll through the Empire Members List every time I visit the Empire, and I always send a friend request to any steampunk I find that lists a city in Georgia as their location. So even if you live nowhere near me, I would greatly enjoy getting to know you as an Empire Friend.
Of course, I also send out friend requests to people I meet on those rare occasions I venture into the Empire Chat Room, or meet at AnachroCon, LibertyCon, or any random meet-up my wife and I are able to attend.
That said, what can I add to make your visit to my page more pleasant?
A bit of biography: My wife, Lady Cita, and I live out in the countryside North of Athens, Georgia. We're quite near to my parent's farm, and I work at a factory in Athens. I attended the local High School, and the University of Georgia in the 1970s. Aside from my day job, I'm a low-level pro writer, have sold a very few oil paintings, am rekindling my interest in composing music, and have recently begun building steampunk ray guns of various designs. I'm trying to work out a way to turn my ray guns into a means to defray the cost of attending various steampunk events so that we might be able to go to more of them.
Please enjoy my page. I hope to meet you in person as soon as events eventuate in that direction. :)
