Cernica DuCress replied to Dr. Mortimer VanWyke, undertaker's discussion What's your favourite kind of candy?
"My dad used to like licorice a lot before he had to get dentures. I, however, never developed an interest. :) I do like twizzlers, but really more as an oral fixation. They're good, but sometimes it just feels like I'm chewing on a piece…"

Cernica DuCress replied to Major Girth's discussion The violent world of steampunk
"I think you are right about that. I, for one, would like to see more of those issues addressed. I mean, really, how can steampunk NOT be neovictorianist? It draws so much from the era. How can we truly deal with the issues of the past (and, really,…"

Cernica DuCress replied to Pearl O. Greatprice's discussion Does anyone here knit or crochet? in the group Steampunk Stitching Association
"I've been knitting about a year now (bought one of those teach yourself kits around last Christmas). Haven't really tried crochet. My sister does that every once in a while. I'm sticking with knitting until I can actually do something…"

Cernica DuCress replied to Major Girth's discussion The violent world of steampunk
"Interesting question...Hmm. Hadn't really thought of it. Partly, people like a good story and conflict drives that. War is the ultimate conflict, so naturally, it can escalate to that in our minds easily. Don't know that I would really…"

Cernica DuCress replied to Lady Lucrezia's discussion Pocket Watches: Old or New?
"One thing I see a lot of lately jumping on the Steampunk bandwagon is necklaces for women that have a small/smaller size timepiece like a pocket watch. I know ladies' timepieces were made back then in smaller sizes like this, but what irks me…"

Cernica DuCress replied to Lady Lucrezia's discussion Pocket Watches: Old or New?
"I'm right-handed and it varies where I wear it. If I'm wearing it in a vest pocket, I wear it on my right. If no vest, then I wear it on my left (on or inside my jacket). But I see your point, tingenek about how the watch face faces.…"

Cernica DuCress replied to Lady Lucrezia's discussion Pocket Watches: Old or New?
"I like vintage pocket watches a lot, but don't mind the newer pocket watches either. Unfortunately the vintage ones tend to be out of my price range. I know you can find some old ones that aren't really that expensive, but still. I like to…"

Introduction
An Amalgamation of various alter-egos. Aspiring everything with a penchant for verbosity and strange allusions to weird, eclectic and arcane stuff. Just looking to find more people in my area. I know there are several in Raleigh and Asheville areas. I try to get around in Charlotte, but I'm out in the middle of the state and find it harder to get around sometimes. Just looking for fun things to do and have a chance to unleash my inner steampunk in real life, not just online.

Loved your message to me regarding my use of "SteamPink" as indicating both my personal and political orientations.  Eugene V. Debs for President indeed.

Your idea of pink steam could actually be done.  Or at least in its exhaust form as water vapor, since technically, steam is invisible.

I do volunteer work on an old triple-expansion steam engine which propels the last of the old "mosquito fleet" ferries of Puget Sound, WA.   So I do know something about mechanical processes in addition to political and psychological ones.

Lots of puns there.  We queers often joke about having our own fleet.  Ferries/fairies.  Plus, the favorite drink of both paleo- and neoVictorians is absinthe, the "green fairy."  One type actually is red; the usual addition of water would make it pink, too!
