We have free reign of the Patent Office. We won't be able to use everything right off, we still have to follow a couple of laws. As we find patents that are interesting (I have three clerks on their way to the unit, civilians all) we will be able to build, test, and even get in touch with the patent holder for more help in research and development.

The Honorable Redfield Proctor came to the command yesterday. Quite a stir was created by the Secretary of War showing up unannounced to take a look around. Having Captain Mahan in tow (Naval) as well as an undisclosed retinue of both military and civilian was pretty impressive I must say.

Shambolic. That's what this Florida command is at the moment. Everyone is running around with their heads so far up someone's arse (often their own) that they can neither see nor breathe correctly. You disobey one asinine order and you get sent to the pit of the service.
