Airships have played a big part in my life, and was into Steampunk and Weird West long before anyone hung names on the concepts. I never hang around the 21st Century if I can go to some other time instead. I am an artist, writer, and costumer on occasion.

I have been contemplating the Dearborn event, but it overlaps both MediawestCon in Lansing and Marcon. I have numerous friends who attend Marcon, and know that it also has a most excellent art show. At this moment, if I can get away for that weekend, I am seriously contemplating Marcon. Steampunk is swaying me, and though the Dearborn event is very very tempting, I am unacquainted with many of the attendees thus far.
Inconjunction is another event that I have tried to attend in past years, but personal obligations have precluded it. However, it also is very tempting. I sent some art to Windycon, but did not get to attend. Also, in April there is a Steampunk event in the St Louis area which is also tempting but unfortunately it is very close to a business event in Indianapolis that I plan to attend. Regrettably, practicality must rein in my social interests and keep me in the current century and timeline.
I agree with your assessment of conventions as family reunions. For me it's more so since I go back a long long way in fandom, though I haven't been active these past few years.
I do hope to find the opportunity to meet with the Circle City group at some point, and participate in some events with your crew.
greetings again madame ! I'm sorry I did not do so sooner .
the site is growing so fast I sometimes miss when new folks join.
I WAS curious if you had plans for for any upcoming conventions.
surprisingly some folks here are not real big on cons.
I love 'em, they're like family reunions ! so far we're planning: Marcon , Inconjunction (Indianapolis) and maybe windycon . if it was held any other time I really would have liked
to have attended steamcon .
