"This is slightly off topic from steampunk but it does involve time travel and Malcolm X. There is a great novel (now only available used: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0870675494) by Kent Smith called Future X. It is a compelling story about competing…"

"There are certainly some tracks on Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Big Time, Night on Earth, and Bone Machine that evoke Steam/Diesel sensibilities. But Never mind- just listen to it all. There is nothing else like this in this or any other timeline."

Edward Lacy replied to Jim Screwloose's discussion The future of Steampunk
"Well, I'm tempted to make the obvious quip (The future isn't what it used to be) but it occurs to me that the best traits of the Victorian weltanschauung pertained to their belief in progress, the perfectibility of human knowledge and…"

Edward Lacy replied to The Clockwork Dolls's discussion The Clockwork Dolls Instrumental Collection
"Although I love the vocals in your music, I have greatly enjoyed listening to these instrumental jewels. I especially love the use of harpsichord, and the subtle "gearshifting" that goes on with the tempo. The sense of textural timbre is…"
