Anyone out there in metalsmithing land who has ever used Firescoff?  Looking for ideas how to get it off!  Warm water isn't working!  :(

The woes of being an artist

Posted on July 4, 2010 at 8:43pm 3 Comments

Almost in the same breath, I received good and bad news to my jewelry. The good and incredible news was to be accepted as an artist in Spokane at the gallery of THUM (the handcrafted urban marketplace) I was so happy that they wanted my jewelry!! I feel a calm and peace about having that be a big outlet for my pieces.

The bad was to receive the rejection letter from SteamCon II in Seattle. I was pretty upset as it's never easy to encounter rejection. I took a long hard look…

I love the feel and look of metal. It's been a long time love affair and there is something to being able to manipulate metal to make something beautiful. Last year I started to sell my pieces and received a wonderful response to my vision. While visiting my sister in Bellevue, WA, she said that my pieces would translate well into the steampunk genre. Don't be upset regarding the SteamCon II rejection. This is rthe second year in a row they have grossly underestimated their vendor space. I'm looking to other venues that offer more variety and have space dedicated to an array of dealers. Awesome creations! You can THUM your nose at SCII !!

Hi, and thank you for your comment ;)

To say the truth, some pieces are soldered and some others are glued, when thing are too tight to work with soldering. But i'm learning electric soldering to make big pieces ^^ I really would have already known this before making my winged jetpack.
