Upstate Steampunk Con at Marriot Hotel

November 19, 2010 at 9pm to November 21, 2010 at 1am
A weekend of Steam. There will be academic panels for those of a scholarly nature and classes for those that are more fun oriented. There will be vendors, a drum circle, and the Upstate Steampunk Ball. There will be costume contests and the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Upstate Steampunk. Break out your best goggles, your spats, your hooped skirts, and your sense of humor and prepare to party like it’s 1899.

Upstate Steampunk Extravaganza 2011 recap

Posted on October 6, 2011 at 7:50am 0 Comments

As one of the best steampunk only cons in the southeast, I must applaud Gypsey Teague and Marla for another well orchestrated event. Steampunks from all over the southeast were greeted by the new sign made by Gypsey as we descended upon the Garden Hilton in Anderson, SC on Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and 2 for an event filled…

Upstate Steampunk meetup 2

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 2:57pm 0 Comments

There's nothing like the local steampunk meetups of Upstate Steampunk to

get me inspired. This was another fun meeting at the gorgeous hotel

where they are holding the Con in November and it's a Victorian Dream.

We sat in the lobby for a while, then adjourned to the wine room

throwing out all sorts of ideas. It was such a variety of people, many

in steampunk gear - we all tend to shop at goodwill or other thrift

stores and now have too many really cool outfits to… Continue

What a great time at the Upstate Steampunk Meetup at the Marriott Hotel The Hotel is Stunning! It is certainly a throwback in time with lots of gorgeous event and gathering rooms, indoor fountains, tiled walls, lots of

My Dear Ms Bainbridge,

Lady Gray...Thank you once again for your most gracious comments on the latest Steampunk Empire Grand Survey. I hope this message finds you in time and is not too late for your purposes at the Upstate Steampunk Extravaganza. It is my pleasure to grant you perpetual use of the statistics of these surveys as far as you find useful. You may most certainly make use of these Survey works and images in any manner that you so desire.

I believe an associate of mine, Mr. Finnegan of Hatton Cross, has made his way to your Extravaganza. I do hope that our paths will meet as well somewhere beyond our Crossroads in the Aether.

I must also state again how much I like your notebooks and journals. Such creative vision and imagery.

a Very Good Day to you,

Thank you Gail. I will have many other inventions at the Upstate Steam event in SC. My group, Hatton Cross Steam, will be giving a presentation entitled "Green Steam" where we focus on making steampunk inventions with flea market finds, junk, etc. I also hope to have my book in print by then. Keep your fingers crossed and I'll keep mine crossed that people like it. :)

Thanks Gail, It was a great day if a bit cold and wet. The Train club people were awsome and put aside a room for us. And as for the photo's I think that is possibly a favourite part of steam punk events... taking photos and the making them old!! I would like to learn to manipulate the background as well.

A friend just forwarded an e-mail from a CT history project of some sort which mentions that Mrs. Harriet Beecher Stowe and Miss Catherine Beecher spent time on Appledore. They were befriended by the cook, Maria Parloa, who wrote the Appledore Cookbook. Our dear Mrs. Thaxter is not mentioned.
