A weekend of Steam. There will be academic panels for those of a scholarly nature and classes for those that are more fun oriented. There will be vendors, a drum circle, and the Upstate Steampunk Ball. There will be costume contests and the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Upstate Steampunk. Break out your best goggles, your spats, your hooped skirts, and your sense of humor and prepare to party like it’s 1899.

- Cecile Bainbridge (Gail Gay) is a botanist, steam printer, book publisher and balloon aviator. Gail Gray is an author and small press publisher who fomerly flew hot air balloons in Greenville, SC, writing numerous articles on the sport and staff writer for "Balloon Life." Gail has lived in two worlds in a sort of time travel between South Carolina and Hampton Village, New Hampshire where she became interested in botany by Ceila Thaxter whose garden is on The Isle of Shoals. Interests include Victorian costumes, history, gardening, writing, cordial making, painting ,costuming, DIY upscaling, printing and papers arts.

Just released - this great resource includes a wide variety of articles, presentations and art from the presenters at The 2010 Upstate Streampunk Extravaganza edited by our own Gypsey Elaine Teague. Includes a wide variety of interests form DYI to fashion, literature, 
trains, etc. I'll add more as I find out more. I haven't rec'd my copy form England yet!

There's nothing like the local steampunk meetups of Upstate Steampunk to
get me inspired. This was another fun meeting at the gorgeous hotel
where they are holding the Con in November and it's a Victorian Dream.
We sat in the lobby for a while, then adjourned to the wine room
throwing out all sorts of ideas. It was such a variety of people, many
in steampunk gear - we all tend to shop at goodwill or other thrift
stores and now have too many really cool outfits to… Continue

Hey Gail that pic was taken at the Anacrocon in Atlatnta. Dim Horizion Studios set up a room. We bought the digital down loads for like a dollar apiece and order two glass pics in the old black n white for our places at home. Agree D Con was amazing. Come down in Feb for the Anacrocon ..its all steampunk 3 days here is a link

- Thank you Gail. I will have many other inventions at the Upstate Steam event in SC. My group, Hatton Cross Steam, will be giving a presentation entitled "Green Steam" where we focus on making steampunk inventions with flea market finds, junk, etc. I also hope to have my book in print by then. Keep your fingers crossed and I'll keep mine crossed that people like it. :)

And as for the photo's I think that is possibly a favourite part of steam punk events... taking photos and the making them old!! I would like to learn to manipulate the background as well.
