"But gee...if he uses a steam-powered mechanical dragon to heat a steam boiler...isn't he just back where he started? ;)  And anyway, I think he was just using that example to ask a question about using fantasy elements in general."

Profile Information

Introduction
I am a professional writer of science fiction and fantasy, and mystery, and some of that is set in the Victorian Age. I've long been a fan of Jules Verne, Arthur Conan Doyle, H.G. Wells and early Steampunk like Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and TV series "The Wild Wild West." I began my first Steampunk novel back in 1970, before there was a term for Victorian Science Fiction, and the editors liked it but didn't know what to do with it marketing-wise. (My Hollywood agent is showing it around now.) The anthology, "Sherlock Holmes in Orbit," edited by Martin Greenberg,, has my Steampunk story, "The Holmes Team Advantage." My main webpage is www.GaryAlanRuse.com I love the elegance of the Victorian Age and the "romance" of adventurous science fiction.

Re: the cat in goggles: fortunately for me, that's a LOL Cat image I lifted off the web.  Though the cat does look a bit like my Zahara:

But if I tried to put goggles on her, I'd be missing a limb for sure!

Both wheelchairs are phenomenal.  The one for Professor X has some great details.  And the real one -- wow, what a collector's piece!  Thanks so much for sharing those links!

Yes, thanks!  I'm a fan and it's gorgeous.  BTW, feel free to friend me there if you are so inclined.  I am plain Stephanie Abbott there, too, with the same profile pic, and thus easy to find.

Thanks so much for the encouragement.  I love your photos, by the way, especially that mechanical hand.  This site has been a great discovery for me.

BTW, here's an article I found today.  Perhaps nothing new for you, but I enjoyed it and learned a lot.
