Greetings. I seek ideas or actual objects... Large fans similar to ostrich fans used by burlesque dancers, without the inclusion of actual feathers. I cringe at the idea of plucking feathers from…Continue

Steampunk Expo & Gothic Con at The Choo Choo Hotel

April 15, 2016 at 2pm to April 17, 2016 at 5pm
Steampunk Expo & Gothic Con is Chattanooga's first and only Steampunk Convention located at the world famous Chattanooga Choo Choo in April. And it's about time! While Chattanooga is known for it's great Sci-Fi conventions, we felt like we would focus on the Steampunk genre. And where else but one of the oldest train terminals in the country.So where does the Gothic come in? In the late 12th century to the 16th century, Gothic can be characterized by the architecture, art and superstitions…See More

Profile Information

Introduction
My current endeavors include traipsing about in an unseemly manner with my wanton troupes of dance performers, including The Corpsewax Dollies... As you may glean from said form of address, we do relish the shadowy realms of life and death. Our morbid cabaret shows include as well a liberal application of humor and nonsensical fun as do the best parlour games. My other troupes are Luminous Web, Sisters of Seduction, Desert Sirens, Gems of the Oasis, Mermaids & Kinderbellies, and Cheeky Nefertitis.

You know, a lot of times feathers aren't actually "plucked" unless the bird is already dead as is often the case with large ostrich and pheasant feathers. The birds are killed for their meat and the feathers sold to companies who sterilize them and resell them for crafts and costuming. That being said, birds molt their feathers often and alot of places will just collect the feathers that have fallen for the same purpose. Either way- people generally don't go around "plucking live birds." I don't know if that's any help for your fan creation, but there it is.

Thank you for your interest !
The projects are progressing in fits and starts;
I've got my goggles, am building a Bamboo scroll / quill case for a friend.
And working on a wooden flashlight, building a costume for Steam Con.
How are you doing?
Sounds like belly Dance is treating you well?
