I have an unopened copy of the 1990 Space:1889 computer game by Paragon Software.  I don't have anything that can remotely run it.  It is on 5.25" floppy disks and says it requires IBM PC/XT/AT/PS2…Continue

"If you have li'l baby krakens, you might try the recipe at http://www.babble.com/best-recipes/tentacle-pot-pies-have-your-fun-and-eat-it-too/ - my XO thinks cutting aluminum foil rings to cover the tentacle tips may prevent overbrowning. As for…"

Commodore Campbell replied to Khayri Ziya's discussion Decoration Ideas and Suggestions

"There were some experimental catapults made by Ctesibius of Alexandria to try to replace torsion springs in classical Greek times; one of them used air springs consisting of a piston in a cylinder. He found that in compression fire came out, which…"

C******, Georgia 4th of July Steam Engine Parade at Town of C****** GA; Just Follow the Crowd

July 4, 2014 from 10am to 12pm
(Let's see if the site censor redacts the name of the town of C*u*m*m*i*n*g as it has for the last 3 years). Old-fashioned small-town 4th of July parade through C****** GA with all the usual marching bands and ANTIQUE STEAM TRACTORS! Open and free to the public. Bring hearing protectors (I am NOT kidding; when a steam tractor feels the need to bleed off a bit of steam through its whistle, it can be LOUD!) and sun screen.

Profile Information

Introduction
DISCLAIMER: Part or all of the following is subject to change without notice, up to and including my name as I work out the details....

I am the captain and, until very recently, owner of the merchant sailing airship Eleanor Page, home port New York, New York, and contracted to the Long "L" Lines. I became Captain of the Eleanor Page 11 years ago, and bought her 6 years ago when the previous owner was foolish enough to try to fill an inside straight and bankrupted himself. Partially as a result, I do not gamble for more than 100 dollars at a sitting (there is NO such thing as a sure thing). Under my command, the Eleanor Page has made 7 Atlantic crossings, but mostly works the North American trade. Though the Eleanor Page normally carries high-value cargo (airships simply haven't the lifting capacity for bulk cargoes), we have been known to carry passengers. Since the Atlantic and most of the United States is pretty well patrolled by the appropriate authorities, the Eleanor Page has never encountered pirates, but the crew trains constantly in case we do. Currently, the Eleanor Page has been bought by a Professor at Boston Tech (more formally, but less commonly, known as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology), who displays most of the outward symptoms of insanity, but considerable funding, for an expedition to Australia. [The tale of that expedition will be told in the story I am writing, under the working title of The Great Australian Meteor, wherein the name of the Captain is David Lawrence; as I said, my name may be subject to revision....]. I now list myself as a Commodore, having commanded two Airships at the Empire Symposium.

I have an identical twin brother, about whom I sigh frequently but support financially, who researches the more extreme realms of Science; so far his endeavors have returned enough money that my financial losses have not quite been painful. [This allows me to have a Mad Scientist alternate persona ;)]
