Third Annual Steampunk in the Park at Piedmont Park

March 25, 2012 from 2pm to 6pm
Steampunk in the Park 2012 will be held on Sunday, March 25th beginning at 2:00 PM and lasting until 6:00 PM at Atlanta's Piedmont Park. We will once again try to meet by the brick bandstand near the tennis center, but if that area is occupied we will likely set up on the grassy knoll across the pathway near the lake (where we ended up last year).   As usual, this is a potluck picnic, so please feel free to bring food or drink to share, or various and sundry dry goods (utensils, napkins,…See More

About Joie-Elise Prideaux:
Joie-Elise was born in New Orleans a few years after the end of the Civil War. A tailor by trade, she soon became anxious to travel and see the world. She has since become a Victorian adventuress and is beginning to make a name for herself as a scholar and academic. She has never forgotten her roots, however, and knows the importance of dressing well for any occasion.

She has recently begun hosting steampunk events in the Atlanta area, and runs a live action roleplaying game with steampunk elements called Forest of Doors.

AnachroCon and New Projects

Posted on April 28, 2010 at 7:37pm 2 Comments

My schooling is finally taking a break (only for a month, I'm afraid), so I now have more time to dedicate to my sewing. I've had the materials to create three gentlemen's waistcoats and two pairs of ladies' bloomers for months now and just haven't had time to make them. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get them done in the break between semesters, as well as do work on some of my own projects.

First up, however, is AnachroCon, which is this weekend, and which I will be sitting two… Continue

Steampunk in the Park ( event page here: http://steampunk.ning.com/events/steampunk-in-the-park-a ) is swiftly approaching at the end of March. So far, the response has been quite positive and I think we're going to have a nice turnout. My lovely partner, Nigel, will be on hand to take pictures (as well as look ever so snazzy himself) and I'll be bringing plates, cups, utensils and napkins for the food people bring. I'm… Continue

For you lovely people in the Atlanta area, consider this your save-the-date for Steampunk in the Park, March 27, 2010. The first annual event of its kind, Steampunk in the Park is a steampunk picnic to be held in Atlanta's Piedmont Park. This is a potluck picnic, so attendees are requested to bring one or two food or drink items to share. There will be at… Continue

Something for the Gentlemen

Posted on December 27, 2009 at 3:36pm 1 Comment

I had a discussion a few weeks ago with several gentlemen friends about the state of available mens' clothing of a steamy nature. Most of them lamented the fact that they found their options severely limited, and that they wished there was more out there to choose from. I, myself, had noticed a similar lack and had recently realized that I make a remarkable number of waistcoats as part of costume commissions. Thus, it seemed only natural that I should consider making a habit of it, and turning… Continue
