- Introduction
- My parents were traveling tinkers and Ireland was originally our primary roving ground. However, with the adaptations my father made to our wagon we were able to travel aloft and often went far from the shores of our homeland. By the time I was 15 I had been to China, Japan, the Ottoman Empire, Russia and even the Americas.
I learned everything one would expect the child of a tinker to know, but I also learned how to navigate and work on airborne ships. In addition, I became fluent in several foreign languages.
When I was 18 my family was traveling by land through the mountains in France when an avalanche destroyed our wagon and killed my parents. I salvaged what I could from the wagon and, dressed as a boy, I traveled on to Barcelona where I was able to book passage to Paris. From there I signed on to several airships over the years and worked my way through the ranks, learning new skills along the way.
In my travels I have been hearing whispers and stories concerning my parents.. One of these has been a persistent rumor that the avalanche that killed my parents was not an accident. I have picked up hints here and there and have been able to piece together enough to know that my parents were assassinated, targeted by dark forces hired to steal my father’s work.
I have sworn to find the truth concerning my parents and how they died!

I have finally had a chance to see for myself the kind of people who were responsible for the death of me ma and da. I sent a drawing of the Order’ banner by bird to the village where we took shelter many years ago and the people who were there at the time confirmed that that is the same symbol they saw on the uniforms of those who were last seen heading towards our camp that morning. The birds also tell me it matches what was seen in the forest…

Anyone familiar with Irish family names, will, I am sure, have realized that McCorbie is not a name one will find in any list of Irish surnames. That is because it is a name I took on as a result of events that happened between the time my parents.....well, anyway.... and the time I reached what could be called civilization once more.

For many years I travelled the world, looking for more information about me parents. I often worked as a pilot, navigator or cook on whatever airship I could find in need of services I could provide. If it was headed in a way I wanted ta go I'd e'en o'erlook many tings. Yes, I 'ave sailed with pirates but I 'ave never killed anyone, nicked anything from anyone who di'n't deserve it or tried ta control anyone else.

And let me know if you want a pdf or a .epub file. I recommend the epub even for reading on your computer. If you download Barnes and Nobles reader they have a "new file" tab on the top bar that allows you to browse your computer and upload the file into your library. Then it is a nice reading experience - a bit more flexible than the pdf reader.
