"Resin them. This will seal out the oxygen and keep them from rusting even more under the coating. You could also use naval jelly and remove the real rust, then add your own faux rust patina, then seal with Krylon. Up to you. Good luck!"

Question/Halp

So... I make jewelry with lots of nifty, old stuff.  Shocking, I know.  :DAnywho, I often use old keys.  Barrel, Skeleton, cool looking.  All of it.  I recently got a nice batch of them in, but they are covered in rust... And dirty looking.  While I love the rusty used look, they're currently unusable for jewelry, due to the dirt they'll leave behind.I know I can use a clear coat to seal them and keep the rust I love, with the freedom to not mess up my customers clothing...
