- Introduction
- I was born as Langshan Croad, the human son of a chicken breeder in Devonshire, England. I attended Miskatonic University, earning doctorates in Arcana and Practical Egyptology, making some serious enemies before returning to my father’s farm. They attacked me there, and in my haste to defend myself with a rushed spell, my mind ended up in the body of my father’s prize bird, a huge black rooster with a haughty expression. My enemies found my human body staggering around, perhaps with the chicken’s mind in it, and ruthlessly slaughtered it. They never noticed the chicken lurking in the shadows. The body of Langshan Croad was buried, and before long the rooster disappeared from the farm, and I emigrated to the Steampunk Empire, under the pseudonym Shan Gallus.
