I'm a transplanted New Englander (Rhode Island) currently living in southern Virginia. I'm an industrial engineer working at a shipyard where we build nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers (not steam-powered or clockwork, but still very cool). In my spare time, I'm an obsessive knitter and reader and a novice chainmail-maker.
I've been a fan of the steampunk aesthetic for a few years (I love anything with gears and moving parts), but I'm very new to the active community. I've never been to a convention and I'm just starting to work on my first costume.
